What a wonderful spot to stay. Close enough to get to Des Moines area activities but remote enough to enjoy a peaceful respite away from the hustle and bustle of life. So lovely.
We loved our stay here! Check in and communication were easy. The house was clean and well stocked. The location was so lovely and felt like we were far away, but everything we needed was just a short drive away. Access to the lake and the dam was super easy.
The house was great. A mix of old and new! Love how the decor fit in with the new and old. We felt very at home. The deck was the favorite place. Most of time was spent on the deck! Very quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed the owls!!!
The house is lovely and well maintained. The host was very responsive. Our only issues were that the master bed is full not a queen as stated. FYI - Cell service is weak and there is no WiFi.

The master bed is a queen size & requires queen size sheets. I am not sure why you believed otherwise.
The listing clearly states that there is no wifi at the house.
Outstanding property and hosts go out of their way to make the place feel welcoming! Strongly recommend this property. A nice add would be WIFI if you need to do some work while on vacation. Altogether, will look to book this place each time I visit home.
Very comfortable beds, newly repainter home very clean and inviting. We were here to Spend time with our 2 month old great granddaughter and her 4 year old sister and this home was 5 minutes away from their home so was extremely convenient for us. Highly recommend this home.
Over all the house was great. Had what we needed and owner was responsive to any questions/needs we had. We have a baby so we did have to watch out for a few hazards related to no baby proofing. The neighbor uses multiple flood lights off their garage every night which shines directly on the back side of this property. Didn't end up being a huge issue for us but any night time bonfires would be impacted.
My family and one other family stayed at the house for a local softball tournament in the area.
We enjoyed everything about the house it was exactly what we expected. It was near all the ball fields that we could have possibly played at but still had that feeling of being far enough away that we could relax and enjoy our time away from the city life.
Patricia was very nice, responsive and accommodating for us which made our stay even that much more enjoyable.
We would highly recommend staying here for anyone looking in the area. We will definitely see if this property is available next time we have a softball tournament in the area.
This was a great stay. The home was clean, comfortable, and well-cared for. It was an older home recently renovated to have modern amenities while keeping with the craftsman style history. The weather was gorgeous and we were able to open all the new windows for the outside airflow. (There is heat and A/C as well.)The supplies kept with the house were well thought out. The towels and TP were soft. Great kitchen supplies, too. What to know… As other users have stated, there is no Wi-fi at the house. (I don’t think this should impact the rating, as it isn’t listed as an amenity.) We have AT&T mobile service, which wasn’t the strongest signal, but worked for our minimal needs. The TV is satellite-based and had a nice variety of channels.Because it is a refinished older home, the hardwood floors, doors, and cabinets have a few squeaks and can be a little loud. Nothing too bad and it wasn’t an issue for us. However, if you have light sleepers on various schedules, you might want to consider packing a white noise machine. There were so many things to do in the area, yet the house felt secluded and away from the busyness. My kids are late teens and early twenties and they enjoyed kayaking, hiking, disc golfing, bowling, and eating at some unique restaurants. We also enjoyed a couple of grilled meals at the property. The hostess is very welcoming and accommodating. She cares very much about a positive experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thanks!
The place was great for our family to stay so we could celebrate our grandson/nephew's graduation. We were going back and forth to Polk City. We enjoyed our stay!
