About this property
Private and Peaceful Lakefront Home on Lindsley Lake on the Cisco Chain of Lakes
This Peaceful and Private, three bedroom home is located on the North shore of Lindsley Lake, on the Cisco Chain of Lakes, on the U.P. Michigan / Wisconsin border. Our old growth forest, wooded hillside site, offers panoramic views of the lakes. (Both Lindsley and FishHawk lake.) **Excellent drinking water!! No need for bottled water!!**
The clean and comfy home offers a dine-in kitchen, roomy living room that looks out at both the lakes and the woods and fire pit/picnic area. The master bedroom boasts a King bed with a private half bath with a woods view, the next bedroom is twin bunks, with a lake view, then a full bathroom, then the third bedroom offers a double/twin bunk with a lake view, sleeping seven comfortably. We now have a double futon in the living room, bringing our total to beds for nine! (Rate is for up to 8 guests. Additional persons may be added, $25.00/per person/per week additional. Double Futon in living room, space for air mattresses.) The screen porch faces the lake and private dock. Lit at night with low voltage lighting, traversing the property and enjoying the grill & fire pit area is easy. Our yard is a naturalized wooded site, with plants and trees bringing in wildlife galore! There is room for multiple cars/trailers in drive, room for two boats at dock. Arrangements can be made for one additional boat docking.
Although you supply kitchen, bathing, hand and swimming towels, the home comes complete with all bedding, (sheets, pillows, blankets.)
{{Due to recent issues, if a member of your family has incontinence, please respect us and either use the pads provided in each room, or bring your own. Bodily fluids during Covid will cause a charge against your security deposit for damages to our property!!}}
Also, FREE USE of our row boat and swim raft. We can offer additional numbers for kayak, jet ski, fishing boat or *pontoon rentals.
(*Ask about our Private, Guided Pontoon Tours, offered by Wilderness Watch, with a $50.00 DISCOUNT, to our guests!)
There is a fire pit, grill and recreation area for small children and pre-teens in the yard. Bikes available upon request.
Located just outside the Sylvania Wilderness Area, we offer some of the best hiking and biking in the area. Wildlife is plentiful at Wilderness Watch! Birders will LOVE Wilderness Watch, with multiple bird feeding stations located in front of the screen porch and all around the yard. We have daily Hummingbird wars too. Deer, Minks, Otters, Beavers are visitors, along with the Bald Eagles and Osprey who also come to check our fishing honey-hole.
EXCELLENT FISHING, RIGHT OFF THE DOCK, WITH NO LEAD OR MERCURY CONTAMINATION! NO PREGNANCY WARNINGS!! A Michigan fishing license covers both sides of the Chain, as the Wisconsin lakes are border lakes! Eat all the perch, bluegills, crappy, small and large mouth bass, walleye, northern pike and musky you can catch! They're all there, just waiting for you!
With 15 lakes, the Cisco Chain offers miles and miles of shoreline to view as you boat from lake to lake. A map of the Cisco Chain is provided for your safety and boating enjoyment. DON'T WAIT!!! Make your vacation plans NOW, to come see Wilderness Watch for yourself and get ready to recharge your mind, body and soul!!

About the host
Hosted by Laurie Cooney, Owner

I am Laurie Susmark-Cooney. My family has owned Wilderness Watch since 1951, and after my mother died, I bought out my four siblings. I have worked to maintain and improve the property, while caring for the woods and its creatures. (Recently, I celebrated 34 years of personal ownership.) I spend five months of the year in managing the rental. During the off-season, I take care of marketing and our rental home, along with caring for my two dogs. I have one daughter. Before doing this, I was working for a Nursing Home and did Home Child Care. I love animals, kids, helping seniors and photography. I am on-site at Wilderness Watch, (I own 2 houses on 2 acres), should anything come up that should require my assistance. Otherwise, I am out of the way, busy with my other activities. See the video home tour, via the link. ADDITIONAL HOME PHOTOS ON OUR WEB DOMAIN. Use link provided to view additional photos of the home .
Why they chose this property
My parents first bought the property after my father traveled up for many years hunting and logging. Then they and my Grandparents purchased a second home to put on the property for my Grandparents to be snow-birds from Florida and they vacationed in Upper Michigan for many years. As a child, we spent every summer, from school out, to school back in session, at the cabin. I have spent my whole life exploring the Cisco Chain. Now that my parents and grandparents are all gone, we turned the larger three bedroom home into a rental, and kept the smaller one bedroom home, (with a recent addition, now a 3 bedroom also) for us to live in, while managing and maintaining the rental. Looking towards the future, my daughter looks forward to carrying on the family traditions we started so long ago. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and take care of Mother Earth!
What makes this property unique
Located at the middle of the Cisco Chain of 15 lakes, Wilderness Watch is on a medium sized lake, that has an average depth of forty to sixty feet. The spring fed lakes are crystal clear all the way through August, before the 'bloom' comes on for the winter. Excellent fishing and swimming, right from the dock! Having 'grown up' on the Cisco Chain, I can offer many insights into the sights and activities of the Chain, not to mention great fishing holes! I also offer the only Guided Pontoon Tours of the Cisco Chain, (where you can view the fourteen Great Bald Eagle nests) and I offer a discount to my renters. When you arrive, I have a packet of information, detailing all the things to see and do within a two hour radius of the home. I can offer tips on places to eat, things to see and the must-see waterfalls in the area to hike. There is a gambling Casino in Watersmeet. Lake Superior is also just a short drive away, offering a wonderful day trip location, to rock-hound or just marvel at its magnitude and beauty. No matter what your interests are, Wilderness Watch is at the heart of all the best the Western U.P., North-woods has to offer! Come let us show you what we've known for years... It's all PURE MICHIGAN!!
