About this property
Tvera - roomy quality cottage with a view, close to the ferry harbor Brjanslækur
The spacious cottage Tvera is situated in the secluded pristine environment of the widely untouched south coast of Iceland’s Westfjord. The lodge is centrally sited for a visit to many spectacular nature sights, would it be the puffins of the Latrabjarg cliffs, the unique red beach of Raudasandur, all the natural geothermal pools in the area - or just the herbal vegetation and the creeks on a refreshing hike from the entrance door of the lodge. The surroundings of Tvera are steeped in history with one of the first discoverers of Iceland, the ninth century Norseman Hrafna-Floki who gave Iceland it's name, choosing to settle here so he could enjoy the beautiful view over the bay.
Tvera sleeps up to 11 guests, but please notice, there's an extra charge per person per night exceeding 6 guests.
Tvera is very close to the ferry harbor Brjanslaekur, where the car & passenger ferry from the town Stykkisholmur arrives, passing the cult-island Flatey on its way across the bay. It is also close to the road junction for the main town of the Westfjords, Isafjordur, hosting "Tjoruhusid" the best fish restaurant in Iceland. There is only a 25 minute panoramic drive to Dynjandi, the most beautiful and impressive waterfall of the Westfjords (100m high).
In the late summer/autumn you can pick blueberries all around and mushrooms too.
Are you heading up North or to the South? We also run the quality cottages "Hamragil" by the town Akureyri up North (Booking Number 3925011), "Stekkar" south of the great sights Geysir and Gullfoss (2903253) and "Brekka" right at the bay Hvalfjord just north of Reykjavik (9257064).

Tourism and music are my hobbies, and that's where I'm now!

Why they chose this property
Tvera is a big cottage, sleeping 10+ people in 5 bedrooms with 3 queen size double beds, 2 twin rooms and the possibility of 1 extra bed. The location is a selected one, up in the hillside with a great view on the whole bay, over to the peninsula Snaefellsnes. Here you are the the King (and the queen!) Tvera offers lots of privacy, though being only 2 km away from the ferry harbour of Brjanslaekur. Tvera is within a easy range to the unique puffin cliffs Latrabjarg, the smashing red sand shore Raudasandur and only 4 km away from the road junction to the breathtaking waterfall Dynjandi and to the beautiful town of Isafjordur. Access to geothermal nature pools almost everywhere gives you the possibility to gaze at the northern lights in the winter time, while sitting in the pool -don't get too tired for to drive back to the lodge!
What makes this property unique
Combination of location, total privacy and an unlimited nature. The highlight for nature lovers, who like to dip in a natural geothermal pool every now and then. Tvera is on the cross roads to town Stykkisholmur (ferry every day), the bird cliffs in the West, the most intriguing waterfall of the Westfjords (Dynjandi), the best fish restaurant in Iceland (Tjöruhusid) in the town Isafjordur, and the western most point of Europe, Látrabjarg, teeming with puffin in the early summer.
