1)The appliances look like they lost a fight with a yard sale. The "fully stocked" kitchen was bare minimum at best.2)The silverware is so small I thought it came from a toddler Happy Meal.3)As far as the grill, you’d have to toast the burger buns one sesame seed at a time.4) If any sesame seed was left behind, the bugs would have taken care of it in seconds.5) The pictures of the listing appeared to be automatically adjusted by AI
This was our second stay at this property. Housekeeping was much improved from last time. We slept in a different room with larger bedside tables. We also brought our dog along this time and we pleased to see a dog bed and toys available. The awkward things were still awkward, but we knew what to expect and how to work around them. This is where we prefer to stay when visiting Bastrop.
We had to make a mad dash from Illinois to Louisiana to retreive our adult daughter do to health issues and only had friday to sunday to pull a cargo trailer get her house packed in it, brought back with us and unpacked before my husband and i had to return to work Monday morning. The stress was over the top to say the least. Once we did get to the rental that Friday night, my 15 yearold was ready to fall down and aleep, but once we entered the home, she was wired for sound. She loved the bedroom. It was very spacious with a desk for her to charge her phone and make her bracelets she brought alone. We have stayed in multiple rental homes for our travels. This home is by far the most home feeling we have had in any place weve layed our heads. It was so big and roomy. I believe my most favorite part about the home was all of the plants and flowers. Im a plant person and have just about every one this property has. So, definitely felt like home. Before i bring this review to an end i want to mention a few things about the host. You will never stay at a home with a host as communitive and kind as Ivory. I ended up not only bringing my daughter home but her husband and my other daughter aswell. I was not expecting this and was very stressed how much money this trip was costing. I messaged Ivory and asked if they could stay also and it was granted. And big enough for all of us.Stay here with your family Its home away from home with a wonderful host!
This home has many good things going for it, and a few puzzling things. Even though there's room for improvement, this property is a better option than any of the inns in town. The setting is a gorgeous wooded lot, with plenty of nature between neighbors. The home is spacious, inviting, and has everything you need to feel at home. The host did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome, excellent communication, easy check in and checkout. Some design choices made the stay somewhat awkward. First, watch out for that extra tall top step, I stubbed my toe hard when we arrived. The tiny mirrors in the large bathroom are hung high, limiting their usefulness, and there is no full length mirror anywhere. The shower water in the small bathroom does not flow to the drain, and leaks out through a gap behind the tiles. It was hard to find good counter and table space for toiletries & personal items. It was tough to fit glasses, a water bottle, and phone around the lamp next to the bed. No room for a CPAP. The mattresses are thin, uncomfortable for us overweight folks. Finally, while the home was tidy and linens were clean, the floors and surfaces were not. We found dust and hair in conspicuous places. The floors had not been mopped before our stay, and we had to wash our feet after walking barefoot. Not a deal breaker, and I hope the cleaner will pay closer attention to this. Bottom line, we will gladly stay here again when visiting family in the area.
