Great experience! Property was perfect and created a beautiful getaway. Was able to spend the mornings at the beach and the afternoon in the pool. Evenings were great with the open loving room. Defiantly plan out your meals and make sure you get groceries before you get to the house. Lion King was perfect. Some really good options in Corolla for dinner and non beach activities. We had a great time. Make sure you pay attention to the signage about airing down your tires.
Quiet, remote, away from the stereotypical touristy stuff, 2 blocks from the beach, a great location to decompress and recharge. We are thankful for having the opportunity to stay at this house as it met all our needs. We'd definitely consider staying here again in the future.
No words to describe how beautiful it is here! The house is immaculate! Everything you need and more to enjoy the vacation. Owners were great and very helpful! Wish we could have stayed longer. Such a fun adventure!
Sometimes the amount of stars for places dont do it justice, I wish i could give this place 10 stars per category!! Blake and Vicky were amazing, and have made this place a go to for many years to come! We stay during July 4th week, this was the first time as a family without other friends there! The house is amazing, the view is out of this world, you can see the ocean and hear the waves at night, its absolutely amazing and so relaxing, the pool, what an amazing addition, we spent time on the beach, and days in the pool. A 4x4 is a must, air down to 12 psi, drop it in 4WD, pick a rut and enjoy the 30-40 min drive down the beach. Pack each day and drive out on the beach and park, and when you want to leave, pack up and drive back to the house! We most certainly will be staying again and look forward to it already!
This place is great and clean. However, you need a Jeep or something with high clearance and not just AWD. The road to the property is 10 miles on a beach with very deep sand at times. You need to be very comfortable driving in loose sand. Our vehicle was 4WD but the clearance was not great and we got stuck a few times, but were able to dig out. However, it made future trips into town a bit stressful.
The owners did warn about the need for a 4WD, I just didn't think it would be as deep and far as it was in reality. The property is great once you arrive.

Perfect house for a February get-away!
The hosts were incredible, very fast in response time and pleasant to deal with! Blake accommodated our request to stay another night without any hesitation, we were enjoying ourselves so much we wanted to stay longer! House was beautiful and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were provided, nice to arrive to a made bed! 4x4 beaches are not for everyone but we loved the seclusion and having a different experience at the outer banks! Be prepared to take essentials and food with you, the nearest store is quite a far drive. We enjoyed the drive daily to check out different things. The wild horses came to visit almost daily and we also watched them on the beach. Definitely need a 4x4 vehicle... We recommend this house and host highly....well worth it!
This was an excellent family friendly house for all ages!! It was beautiful and very functional. Games, beach toys, awesome hot tub and pool, and plenty of space for the 8 in our family to enjoy hours of fun. Exceptional host who helped us get there early due to high tides and responded quickly to any questions we had. This place felt like home!! I never sleep good on vacations and i slept like a baby every night!! Kitchen had everything we needed and we cook alot. We were thankful for all the towels and useful things around the house!! We highly recommend you stay here!
I see a lot of terrible reviews for many places but this is NOT one of those! The house was exactly as described. It was well kept, clean, close to the beach, and a great experience all around. I highly recommend! If you are lucky enough to rent a property owned by Blake (there’s more than one) you won’t regret it!
Perfect secluded retreat, well appointed with everything you need to relax and unwind. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here- the property was absolutely beautiful!
The hosts were amazing! The house and property were beautiful! There were so many great memories we were able to make with our family. Ranging from the wild horses that we watched while drinking our morning coffee on the covered deck to having fun at the beach with our children. Just an all around awesome experience. We can't wait to come back and do it again!
Excellent property. Very private and secluded with easy access to the beach. The pool was an excellent addition. It was a great relaxation spot after being on the beach.
We had a great time at the house. We went to the beach, went on a charter fishing trip and a dolphin cruise in Manteo. We also got to see a bunch of the wild horses. We had so much fun.
We stayed for a long weekend as a family. The home had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and pool. The home many items needed for the beach including boogie boards, sand toys, chairs and an umbrella which was really wonderful!
Really enjoyed our stay. It was quiet, relaxing and we saw several horses. House was perfect for our family, well equipped and clean. Much appreciated. We plan to return.
A weekend trip with family and friends. Thoroughly enjoyed the beach drive, the community, and the relaxation. Blake was super friendly and very responsive! The house was clean and taken care of. Enjoyed being the first to jump in the new pool! Would definitely come back for a longer stay!
This was our first time staying in Carova-make sure your 4x4 is in working order beforehand. Unfortunately our truck couldn’t navigate through the soft sand even though we aired way down to 10 psi. Called Mr. Clipper for assistance and he immediately sent help. We ended up renting a jeep the next day which was actually pretty fun.
The house was easy to find on our navigation and Mr. Culpepper actually called us beforehand to let us know we were good to go and check- in a little earlier than expected. We found the house to be very accommodating and clean. The main floor is actually on the top floor, so you get great views. We did see a few horses outside the front door and on the beach. There’s an outside shower that’s really convenient so you can rinse the sand off your feet before going inside.
On the tail-end of our stay, we attended a family wedding in Corolla so I was a little nervous driving back on the beach at night. A sea turtle must have laid eggs because they had a group of folks directing traffic with flashing lights so as to not accidentally run over the nest. Very cool to see that!
The house was perfect and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We cooked every morning packed up, went to the beach came home spent some time in the hot tub and then repeats for all the days that we were there.
The very first day that we were there, we saw a wild horse grazing on the front yard. It was funny because he tapped the garbage can as he was walking away.

About the host
Hosted by Blake and Vicky Culpepper
Our family have been in the Outer Banks since the early 70's. We raised our 2 sons here and call the Outer Banks home. Carova is our vacation spot.
Why they chose this property
We built this house in 2016 with love. The location is special to us because we can get off the beaten path and relax. We are only 1 mile south of the Virginia state line where Falls Cape Park starts. There are miles of paths and very exciting historical findings within the park.
What makes this property unique
This house is unique to us because of the serene surroundings and the rare opportunity to live amongst the dunes and wild horses.
