Why Andrea Sanger chose Domme
We love Domme (classified as One of the Most Beautiful Villages of France) and we fell in love with the situation of La Falaise - built into the cliff and with great views across the valley.

Cozy in Domme
We loved the quiet of the location, and then the short walk into Domme. The owners were very helpful with the rental process and very welcoming to the property.
Beautiful, relaxing, convenient
My wife and I took my mother in law and her partner away for her 80th and we couldn’t have hoped for anywhere nicer. The cottage was very nice, tucked away under the cliff and just a short walk up the hill to Domme, which the older members of our party managed well. Domme is of course beautiful and has everything we love about a getaway to this part of France with its history, market, fascinating shops and plenty of places to indulge our appetites!
We were made very welcome and couldn’t fault our stay!
Thank you so much for such a kind review. It's always good to hear that our guests enjoyed the property, its slightly unusual style and, of course, its proximity to the amazing village of Domme.
Most Relaxing place I have ever stayed
We had an amazing week in July staying in Domme. The House is amazing and the photographs don't do it justice. Because it's in the rock it's cool all day and the layout and finish is top class. Everything was in perfect working order and the linens and towels were clean and luxurious.
We spent a lot of our time down the steps to the pool and the views over the Cenac are breathtaking. It was so relaxing to sit, read, swim and snooze (and then repeat).
The cottage is just outside the main gates and a quick walk into Domme itself. The town is full of amazing restaurants. Our favourite was La Belvadere with a view looking over the Dordogne from the Terrace.
Andrea and her husband were perfect hosts. They helped us settle in and were attentive if we needed anything but were careful never to intrude. They had left us a lovely welcome present and had lots of information on the local area.
It really was such a peaceful place and we will definitely be back.
Thank you so much for such a kind review. It's very good to hear that you enjoyed the place (and semi-troglodyte living!) and the area.
Peaceful and charming!
The location was wonderful, off the beaten path but located walking distance from the beautiful medieval village of Domme. It was a great spot for day tripping around the Dordogne. The cottage was quaint and comfortable and our host started us off with champagne, cheese, milk, butter etc. She also gave us a book on wines and one on Van Gogh. Very nice touch! The gardens, pool and view were amazing. Unfortunately, the weather was too chilly for swimming. There were two couples and one bedroom had a double bed which was cozy but would have preferred a queen. The microwave broke down and Andrea replaced it immediately.
Thank you, Andrea! We hope to return some day!
Thank you so much for such a charming review. I'm sorry about the technical hitch but glad it was possible to get it sorted out quickly.
Loved Every Minute
It's always a bit of a gamble when you book a holiday on the internet but we struck gold when we booked La Falaise in Domme.
The property is as advertised and had everything a family wants for a vacation. It's a beautiful old and quaint building with a great pool area, the kids loved it. The views across the valley from the house were stunning. All the modern conveniences you would need on a holiday were in the house. It was a nice touch having a cupboard full of DVD’s for the days when the weather wasn’t so good and the kids needed something to do.
The village of Domme is just a short walk up the hill from the house with more shops and restaurants than I was expecting. I seem to remember that in the advert Domme was described as one of the prettiest villages in France, this is certainly true. The views of the Dordogne River are breathtaking from the ramparts of the medieval town. The surrounding villages and towns are equally stunning, Sarlat-la-Caneda is a must-see town thronged with fantastic restaurants and bars. We did a Kayak trip from Vitrac to Beynac which was brilliant, it took about four hours which included stopping for lunch along the way in La Roque-Gageac, the perfect way to see the area.
I couldn't recommend this holiday more to anyone, it was a great house in a great location. Thank you Andrea for all the helpful information provided and thank you for a great holiday. We'll be back.
Thank you Rory for such a nice review. The village of Domme is very flattered (as is La Falaise!). Anyway, it's good to hear you enjoyed the place.
This is the most exciting area of the Dordogne - where the river passes through steep cliffs and past spectacular castles. Canoeing (close by Domme) is a wonderful experience as is visiting the markets, castles, châteaux, caves and prehistoric sites of the area. Domme itself has its own cave system. The Perigord Noir is also known for its food - particularly in the autumn - and Domme has a range of restaurants from the simple to the star rated. As Henry Miller said of Domme: 'Just to glimpse the black, mysterious river at Domme from the beautiful bluff is something to be grateful for all one's life'.
Other Activities: Canoeing, caves, châteaux, castles. Treetop adventure courses.
