The Space:
Welcome to The Waechter Farmhouse, an original homestead located in McCook County, South Dakota, thoughtfully renovated to combine modern-day amenities with historic charm. This spacious farmhouse features four bedrooms and two full bathrooms, accommodating up to 10 adults comfortably.
Layout and Features:
Bedrooms and Bathrooms: One bedroom and one full bathroom are conveniently located on the main floor, while the remaining three bedrooms and an additional bathroom are on the upper floor. Please note that the staircase to the upper floor is steep and narrow.
Living Spaces: The living room on the main floor features a 65" smart TV with internet access, perfect for relaxation. The home is equipped with central heating and cooling; however, the upper level lacks forced air. Fans and extra blankets are provided for added comfort.
Kitchen and Dining: Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and a dishwasher. There is seating for eight at the dining table and three more at the kitchen island. The front porch also has a four-burner Blackstone grill for outdoor cooking.
Laundry: A new washer and dryer are available on the main floor for guest use.
Parking: Ample parking is available on the property, but it may be challenging to identify the gravel parking spots due to the home's age. You are welcome to park anywhere on the driveway where gravel is visible. Improvements to parking is being planned for the future.
Accessibility: Guests with mobility challenges should note that there are four steps leading up to the home's main entrance. The staircase to the upper level is steep, so it may be best for those guests to stay on the main level.
Outdoor Spaces and Farm Life: The surrounding land and barn space are still actively used by a local farmer, with cattle occupying the barn and fields at various times of the year. Please observe from a distance to ensure safety during your stay.
Pet Policy: This is not a pet-friendly property. A pet violation fee of $150 will apply if this rule is not adhered to.
Smoking Policy: Smoking is allowed outside only, with proper disposal of cigarette butts. Indoor smoking will result in a $350 fee.
Stay Duration and Availability: Bookings are available for stays of 2-365 nights.
Local Environment: Originally built in 1897 and recently renovated, The Waechter Farmhouse retains its historic charm. As the property is located on a farm, guests may encounter occasional ants, spiders, fruit flies, or earwigs despite regular pest control measures. You may also hear farm animal noises or encounter wildlife, and the area may be dark at night due to its remote location.
