Nestled in the woods, atop Vineyard Mountain, lies the family home known as The Mountain House.
Perched over a forest valley, expect peaceful quiet, sunsets, and plenty of wildlife.
Natural sunlight bathes this three bedroom home, as skylights are found throughout. A gourmet kitchen awaits family meals, and evenings can be spent next to the fireplace, or in the jetted tub.
This is a local family’s home. They are gone during your stay, and are lovingly opening it up to you, their guests.
Walking into this large home, the first living room’s 13 foot windows shower you in warm sunshine. As it gets cooler, this living room has a gas fireplace to warm up with, and ample cozy seating.
The kitchen has a gas cooktop, a beautiful copper sink, a double oven, stainless appliances, and a stone counter bar top, which seats two. Four more dining seats await you at the upright dining table, which overlooks the forest valley, and the second living room doubles as the entertainment space, with access to Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+ and Max. A half bathroom, and a gorgeous outdoor deck complete the downstairs.
Heading up the staircase, the large main bedroom boasts a California King, its own private balcony deck, an overhead skylight, and an ensuite bathroom with a walk in shower, and a deep jetted tub.
There are two more bedrooms in this upstairs: one with a queen sized bed, and another with a double bed and corner desk space. There is an additional bathroom up here with a large vanity sink, and tub/shower combo. The laundry room also resides in the upstairs
This beautiful family home, has been designated a Certified Wildlife Habitat, by the National Wildlife Federation, for the amount of flora and fauna that reside here. Expect to have your morning coffee on the two outdoor decks amongst the birds chirping, and hear the rippling creek nearby.
Dozens of hiking trails can be found throughout this forest, the trailheads of which start just down the hill, at Peavy Arboretum. A little further away is The Saddle, a locals’ favorite hiking spot.
Central heating and air conditioning is available, as is a fast WiFi connection.
The main level’s outdoor deck features a gas grill, a bistro table with umbrella, and a retractable overhead awning.
There is an air mattress available for the usage of extra guests. Please note that on VRBO, "air mattress" is not an available checkbox. Thus, it is listed as a "sofa bed." It is not a sofa bed. It is an air mattress.
It’s a 16 minute drive to Oregon State University. A 9 minute drive to the Samaritan Medical Complex. Less than an hour to the top of Mary’s Peak. One hour to the beach. 1.5 hours to Portland International Airport
You will be given a unique door code, which gives you access to the home’s front door. (No keys to lose!)
There is driveway parking available for four vehicles in front of the garage, and up to two additional vehicles behind those. Street parking is unavailable.
As mentioned above, this is a local family’s personal home. You will see some of their items in closets and drawers, but they have made ample space for you. There is a locked door to the basement, as well as a locked door to an additional office, which is off-limits.
It is unlikely that you will see us throughout your stay, but we respond to messages very quickly, and have on-call maintenance and cleaning staff as needed.
The fireplace is tricky, and is best turned on with two people: one to turn on the key, which is located near the floor, while the second person immediately lights the flame with a torch. If you are unfamiliar with lighting a gas fireplace with a torch, we kindly ask that this is not your first go-around with it. Gas + flame + inexperience is not a good fit here.
While we welcome your family to enjoy graduation festivities, please note that the neighbors along this street will not take kindly to loud parties.
The basement, which will be locked off, will be housing the family’s two indoor cats during your stay there. There is an additional locked outside door to that basement, which a neighbor will be coming by daily, to feed them through. This neighbor will not bother you, and you will have no interaction with them, nor any reason to be bothered by, or deal with, the cats.

Very comfortable home and a unique wooded setting that feels like you’re in a tree house. We enjoyed the spacious rooms and sitting areas. Very close to downtown Corvallis.
The location is perfect. Quite in the woods place with wildlife and every amenity someone needs to make it feel like home. Not to farm from town but just enough away.
