Great stay at a unique property! Convenient to the trail and town. Loved the history and information on the caboose. The amenities of the property were great and the added touches for travelers was thoughtful and appreciated.
My wife and I stayed for two nights to celebrate our 19yr anniversary. We got a bike ride in on the Katy and checked out local watering holes. The Katy Caboose was cute. We enjoyed the deck on a beautiful starry night.
The Caboose was nice and cute. But I was not able to get there until much later in the day, and it was so dark out where the caboose is located, that I could not find it for a bit. It would be nice to have a light left on outside. I was not there much, I was at my sisters wedding for most of the weekend, but it did the job. I liked that there were snacks you could purchase.
We REALLY needed an overnight stop in Hartsburg while biking the Katy Trail! About 20 miles per day is our limit!!! Your emergemcy stash of food for sale covered our lunch need, while we waited for the restraunt to open for supper. The caboose is a cute stay but probably way more comfortable when it is not so hot outside. The a/c made a valient effort to manage the temp. Thanks so much!

When we arrived the access code given via email did not work. I called several times, sent a messge through VRBO and did not get a response back from the host until the next morning. If I had not called several other 'known associates' that I found online we would have been locked out all night in the cold. The host does not offer an alternate contact option. Then the second night it was rather cold at 12 and only 1 of the heaters was working. The information binder indicated extra blankets but we did not find any in the drawers as stated. The deck is slippery with green algae and the shower water was warm at best. The sink water for hand washing was hotter than the shower. Dog hair covered the couch and while we love pets we did not expect our uniforms to be lint rolled on their entirety. The informatuon binder had been wet and was difficult to read in places, a simple reprint would fix that.

Thank you for your feedback. We regret that your arrival experience was not as smooth as expected. Our records show the prior guest had no access concerns, and while your check-in occurred later in the evening than most, we are glad you were able to reach my husband and gain entry shortly after.
We are a small owner-operator and aim to provide a clean, comfortable, and good-value stay, and we consistently work to ensure the home is well maintained and accurately represented in our listing. The heater was verified to be operating properly both the day of your arrival and again after your departure. Additional blankets are provided for guest comfort.
Cleanliness is very important to us. The home is thoroughly cleaned between each stay, and we will review your note regarding the couch to ensure nothing was overlooked.
We appreciate you bringing the shower concern to our attention and will be inspecting it. This is the first complaint received. Following the heavy rainfall on your arrival date, we will also review outdoor surfaces and address any areas that may require attention.
We value guest feedback and remain committed to providing a consistent and positive experience for those who stay with us.
Clean, cozy stay! Loved that dogs were welcome, and there’s plenty of grassy space outside for walking them around (and of course, you’re right on the Katy Trail for walking as well!). Being directly across the street from the Burg made for an easy dinner and drink spot, and walking just one minute to get back to our lodging, which was fantastic. They also take quiet time serious - even though they were really busy that night, the patio was silent by bedtime, everyone was really respectful of nearby neighbors. Only notes are to please, please don’t underestimate the description saying the bathroom is “in the cottage next door.” There is very minimal lighting (which is necessary or there would be bugs galore!), and you have to go down a step out of the caboose, then down another short set of steps, then use your code to go through one locked door into a pitch black, eery basement, then use your code to get through the locked door to the bathroom… it’s quite a chore if you need to potty often. With the bathroom being such a hassle to get to, it would be really, really lovely for the caboose to have maybe a pitcher of water on the counter or one of those freestanding water refill jugs for ease of filling water bottles or a dog water bowl? And Kleenex, since toilet paper isn’t accessible if you need to blow your nose?
