A short walk from our house you can ride on two streetcar lines
1 - The north Rampart /St. Claude line
@ st claude at pauger street
The newest street car line runs from the Marigny to the Central Business District passing the Saenger Theater. With access to major hubs like Canal Street and Loyola Avenue, this streetcar line creates convenient connections to the Garden District. For a great day out in the Garden District, Uber out, have lunch at one of the many fabulous restaurants, gaze at the mansions and ride a street car back.
2 - The Riverfront Line
@ Esplanade Ave/North Peters in front of the old U.S. mint building
The Riverfront Street car starts its run just outside the French Quarter at the south end of the French Market. From this starting point the streetcar travels upriver past the six blocks of shops and restaurants of the French Market. Then the streetcar rolls on past the Café Du Monde which unfortunately is behind the levee wall, the Moonwalk will be on your riverside and is a relaxing area to take in the sights of the river. Next you pass the Steamboat Natchez dock, Woldenberg Park (a awesome green space built on top of a warf), the Aquarium of the Americas, the IMAX theatre, the Canal Street Ferry (take a ride across the river), the Plaza de Espana,Harrah’s Casino, and the Outlet Collection Riverwalk, the nation's first downtown outlet center
P.S Café Du Monde for beignets & coffee has a take-a-way counter around the back .
