One of the best rental experiences we have ever had. Excellent communication, easy check in/out instructions. Perfect location. Friendly neighbors. Thank you Marne
Nestled in the heart of downtown Lodi we enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and ease of walkability to downtown. This is the perfect location to explore everything Lodi has to offer!
We really had a fantastic stay, such a great location, walkable to all the fun in downtown Lodi, easy parking, easy access in and out, charming home, and amazing hosts. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back!
What can I say, Hutchins House had everything we were looking for with easy access to everything we wanted to do. Host was communicative without being intrusive. 100% would stay again.
We returned to Central Valley after 3 years. We choose lodi for location, beauty and many eatery options.
This house exceed our exception & host was very kind, responsive and helpful.
Highly recommend & will return.
This is the third or fourth time we have rented this house. Beds are great, kitchen well-stocked, living room is comfortably furnished. Only improvement would be better lighting in the dining room and living room.

Thanks for the kind review - I had a look at the issue with the dim lighting in the dining room that you mentioned. I think it was just the operation of the dimmer switch for the chandelier! I will be sure to show you how it works for your next stay. There is a small slider switch next to the on/off toggle switch that is tough to see (especially if the lights are already dimmed!). The living room is lamps only - just like a hundred years ago! We can easily change to brighter lightbulbs!
The house was even better than we remembered from our first visit. Perfect in every way. Great neighborhood, very safe feeling, walk to downtown, easy access to vineyards. It has everything you need in the kitchen. Wonderful outside space to hang out. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it without hesitation.
Our family had a wonderful stay in Lodi. Their home had it all! Best location in the neighborhood heart of Historic homes. The home was air conditioned, plenty of patios (3) to enjoy the peaceful settings, and gather with family inside the home or outside. The owner is very helpful and flexible with needs or advice. We look forward to our next visit to Lodi and hopefully the Simpson home will be available
We had a wonderful stay at the Hutchins House over New Years Weekend. The home was impeccably clean and it was readily apparent that a lot of thought went into decorating the house to make it warm and inviting. So much charm! We enjoyed the great bottle of wine that welcomed us along with the beautiful Xmas tree still up and lit for the holidays. Beds were comfy, patio was lovely (wished we could use it more - would be great in the warmer months), and location was perfect. The area was quiet - kitchen well equipped. Marne was so nice to work with. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you for sharing this historical treasure in Lodi with us!
We decided to get out of our home town for along weekend with our dog. Lodi has plenty to do and is dog friendly. This house is very centrally located. We were able to walk down to the downtown Farmer's market and breweries. It is a very short drive to good wineries for tasting.
The house is really cute and has plenty of room. Our host was very response to our questions and very helpful when we could not find the extra key.
My only note for travelers is if you are traveling with your dog the fenced yard is small and mostly cobbled patio. The good news is there is a huge park right across the street to walk your dog in the grass.
We really enjoyed this house and our stay. If we travel back to Lodi we would rent it again!
Not the first time we have rented this lovely house. Perfect if you want or need to be in Lodi. Great well equipped kitchen if you want to cook. Nice park across the street. Lovely neighborhood. Good beds
We stayed for 30 days in January and February. The house was lovely and quite versatile. My wife and I were able to work remotely via the internet on different sides of the house and we never interrupted each other. The kitchen is great, with everything you need. We basically just lived the Lodi life for a month. It is very quiet, and serene, and beautiful even in Winter. We felt very safe and cozy. The regular sites in the area are dog walkers and students going to and from school, and outside house cats. The park across the street is mellow and friendly. Basketball courts and handball courts are used regularly by locals having fun. The people of Lodi are so exceptionally sweet and content everywhere you go. It's really like going back in time to a medium sized farm town. There is a nice brewery and numerous wine bars, but the night life is pretty slow after 9. It is about an hour drive to any memorable hiking area, but we managed to see the incredible Mt. Diablo, Pinnacles National Park, Black Hole to Calcutta Trail, and the Golden Gate Vista Point on day trips. And local Micke Grove Park and it's golf course are great facilities. P.S. You can walk to a great grocery, coffee shops, tacos, Chinese, brewery, cinema, thrifts, churches, and the awesome Joe Hassan's Clothing.
Lovely, well-maintained home in a charming neighborhood close to downtown. Only slept in one bed and it was comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped. Fenced yard is a bonus if you are traveling with a dog. This was our second time staying there and we hope to come again,
This was a perfect place for our family of five while we visited our family in the area. It was so cozy for the holidays. Won’t look any farther now when we are back in town and need a place to stay.
Owners were lovely and helpful. Bottle of wine left for us was a nice touch. House was spotless. Sprouts grocery store provide the raw materials for all of our meals in Lodi and the kitchen of our house had all the supplies needed so that we could cook. There is a park across the street and downtown is just a few blocks away. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant for walking. The house itself and grounds are charming.

About the host
Hosted by Marne Simpson
Both Steve and I (Marne) grew up in Lodi. Our families and many childhood friends still live nearby. We actually met in our college years in southern California and couldn't wait to move back to our hometown once we were married. Our two daughters were born while living in this house and although we love it dearly, our growing family needed a little more space as they entered high school. So, we moved across town but want to share our home with others visiting this little town that means so much to us. In all of our travels we have learned what makes us most comfortable while staying in a home away from home and have tried to include all of those special details to make you feel like this is your home too. I helped found the Lodi Conference and Visitors Bureau as Lodi began developing it's tourist sites and know almost all there is to know about Lodi, the events, the businesses and the wineries. Lodi is a small town that has many 'secret' gems. I would love to help you plan your visit here and to make the trip even better than you had hoped it could be.
Why they chose this property
We are only the fourth owner of this century old home. It is beautifully built with fine craftsmanship and the perfect floor plan and has been lovingly cared for. The minute we first walked in the door we knew it was the house meant for us. It is set in the perfect location to enjoy the surrounding neighborhood and downtown area. The neighbors are friendly and the three outside patios give you lots of options for dining and relaxing all year round.
What makes this property unique
This older neighborhood is known for it's tree lined streets and families out walking the dog or playing in the park across the street. It is truly small town America with all the benefits of big cities. Celebrations are common, festivals are busy and the art scene is strong here. And all of it is happening within walking distance of our front porch. The home is finely built with charming details of days past and updated for modern comforts.
