I gave 1 stars for ratings because I couldn't actually stay at this property. I was on my way to Baltimore for my only daughter’s wedding (7 hr drive) and contacted the host for how to get into this house. I was told it was double booked, someone was already in there and it was unavailable, and although they felt awful, it wasn’t their fault. So we never stayed in this house, despite paying for it in full in May for an October stay. Ultimately, they did have another house for us (3 bedroom, 1 bath instead of what we booked which was 4 bedroom, 3 baths for 8 people). They did give me a good discount and got my money refunded from VRBO, but the biggest issue I had was their attitude. There was virtually no sympathy for the fact of the enormous stress this put on me and my family, including my 93 and 89 year old father and mother in-law. The house we were in was much smaller, less workable with bathrooms, and too small for 8 people. We adjusted but the attitude of the hosts was 1) we should be happy with the ‘big discount’ I got, and they gave me the breakdown of how much we were saving. 2) constantly saying it was not their fault, they had no knowledge that this had occurred and they were going to lose some money on this. And 3) that I should have realized that they didn’t know we had booked it because we did not receive communication from them when we booked (5 months before) or any other communications, except for all the communications we received from VRBO.
