The house was super clean when we arrived. The instructions for check-in and check-out were clear and easy to follow. The access to the unit is easy for people with big luggages but accessing the downstair area could be difficult since the staircase is quite steep. The place is super close to a lot of public transportations and supermarkets. Overall, a really nice, spacious and good location for a stay!
Stayed here with a group of 6 adults and we were very comfortable - apartment is large, the neighborhood is great, and you are just a few short moments from the subway or the bus. Will be saving this listing for future trips!
The apartment is very spacious and allowed us to all spread out and relax. It was close to several subway stops and a couple of great restaurants. We enjoyed our stay!
Great authentic property in a beautiful building in Harlem. Plenty of space for our family of three. Smooth check in process. Friendly neighbourhood. It is was a nice experience to came back to this place after a day of wondering through NYC. Recommended.

Harlam stay
Host was great, they were quickly responsive when we were accidentally locked out. Location is super close to a train and the local food scene and hospitality were great. The place was good for sleeping and prepping for days out.
Easy check-in process and very comfortable but it was a little dirty but my friend found a fingernail clipping in the downstairs bathroom. Overall had a great stay because of the space and nearby food locations
I had a wonderful time staying in Harlem. Had a lot of places we was able to go to that was within walking distance. It was super convenient. I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity came up again.
This Harlem brownstone was perfect home base for our family of 5 during our NYC stay. Easy access to MTA, local stores, and businesses. Check out Harlem Biscuit Company around the corner! And Proof Coffee Roasters, great cold brew. Located on a quiet street and plenty of sleeping space and room to spread out for our tweens/teens. Communication with the host was easy and responsive.

Brownstone in Harlem
Communication with property owner was great! The property itself was not as clean as I had hoped. It had plenty of space for us to spread out as a family of 5. I would suggest uodating the place because it really is a nice, historic property.

Overall lovely
Tyson was quick to respond and super helpful. I was unclear that it was a lower level of the brownstone, which was a touch disappointing, but it was still a brownstone in NYC so we were grateful! The lack of trash can in the bathroom, the microwave not working and the limited about of sleeping pillows were a bit disappointing. However, we made it work and we did enjoy our stay. The kids loved the big coach and it was a great location.

Natasha, thanks for your review. I really wish you would have informed us that the microwave wasn't working during your stay. This is literally the first time we've heard this and it was repaired this morning. The maintenance lives on the streets so he definitely could have come by during your stay. Also, we will add a few more pillows in the closet and a trashcan in the bathroom. Again, these are easy additions that could have been addressed during your stay if this were not the first time we were hearing about it. I'm sure future guests will appreciate it but it would've been nice to be informed during your stay given the fact that you note our are quick and helpful.

Pros: Excellent location in Harlem which is 2 blocks from subway and good restaurants. Instructions to enter the unit was easy to follow. The unit is as clean as it can be for a brownstone. We used the stove often to cook.
Cons: The access is under the stoop stairs of a brownstone. The unit is at the back of the brownstone and has very little natural light with no views because it is on the ground floor. The second bedroom is in the sub basement with zero natural light. Very little air circulation.

I have been staying at VRBOs for over ten years and I have never had a worse experience. Our stay at this property was very disappointing. The host charged us an unexpected additional fee for an extra guest even though I had clearly informed him ahead of time. When I tried to discuss it, he threatened to lock us out with all of our belongings inside if we didn’t immediately pay, which was extremely stressful and unprofessional.Even more concerning, he seemed to be monitoring us through cameras and knew when we were not at the apartment, which felt invasive and unsettling. The apartment itself was also dirty and run down, definitely not as described or pictured in the listing. I would not recommend this property or host to anyone.

It is deeply unfortunate that VRBO allows guests who attempt to scam hosts to remain on their platform. I'm sure in your ten years on VRBO, this was your worst experience—being held accountable for breaking the rules.
You NEVER added a 5th guest to your reservation despite knowing well before check-in that you would have more than the 4 guests you booked. After three days at the property, when we noticed the violation and asked you to pay the required guest fee, you refused and threatened to report fraud charges on your credit card if you were charged.
Your reaction to standard security cameras on the property—which are disclosed and common in short-term rentals for guest's safety—made it obvious that you have done this to other hosts before. Fortunately, many decent and honest guests have stayed at this property and left reviews, so yours stands out as exactly what it is: an attempt to deflect from your own misconduct.
If you truly believed you had a legitimate case regarding unauthorized charges or security violations, you would have contacted VRBO during your stay. Instead, you chose to violate the property's policies, refuse payment for additional guests, and then post a defamatory review. This speaks volumes about your character and integrity—or lack thereof.
Years ago, I lived in NYC and had a garden apartment in another part of Harlem, and I am always curious about how people customize or update them. This apartment was a thoughtful and clever use of the space! Rare two-level unit and the extra half bath on the spacious lower level is genius. The orientation of the kitchen upstairs makes great use of the space. Updated appliances throughout. You really have to be familiar with NYC Brownstones to appreciate the host's design approach. The only thing I'd add is a ceiling fan upstairs and perhaps a modest wardrobe with drawers downstairs. Not a deal-breaker, however.Located close to everything, and the block itself is gorgeous. This will be our go-to spot whenever visiting. The host kindly and effortlessly helped us navigate an access issue that was our fault. Thanks for a great product.

Mandy, the basement flooded ONCE on the LAST night of your stay and did not affect any of the living areas. Not the two bedrooms, the bathrooms, the kitchen, the living room, or the dining room. It was literally rain water in the bottom family area where the extra television is. If you are going to complain in your review at least be honest. We sent out a plumber immediately, apologized for the inconvenience, and offered you a $150 credit. The apartment is located in a historic brownstone not a brand new condominium so things are bound to go wrong occasionally, all we can do is address the issue and express our apologies.
