It's not what it appears , do not judge! The neighborhood is full of hard working helpful people. The house was very comfortable for us. The hosts communicated with us in a timely fashion. It was a heatwave during our stay, but we were cool in the bedrooms as both bedrooms had cold AC. We kept those doors closed most of the time to stay cool . Fans available to blow the cold air around PLENTY of towels for a teen girl! She was very happy and we loved the uniqueness of this home. We would definitely stay here again! It was great having a refrigerator and freezer also! So many great things to say! Thank you for hosting us

The home was quaint, spacious and clean. It had pretty much everything we needed; kitchen tools, bathroom items, an iron for each room. Loved the remotes for the ceiling fans and lights. Loved the separated formal dining area, though I didn’t use it because I only had my grandchildren and the kitchen table was more than ample. I would definitely stay here again. Hosts were immediately responsive. Double locks made me feel secure with just my grands and I. Good location to major road arteries.

The host was great and responded to all of our questions and issues very quickly and let us check in early after our flight landed early. The space was great for what we needed, but I would note the floors are a little thin so you can hear residents above and below pretty easily.

This apartment is very cute. Great size for 2 couples. I had to ask the owner a question and he answered within a minute! The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and accessories. Bring your own food and make anything! Even a loaf pan! We were very happy with everything!

The place wasn’t in the best neighborhood. It did have parking behind the house but the lot had trash all around. The bathroom was dirty. I literally had to wipe urine stains from the toilet. I was informed during check in that the dishwater was not working and not to use it. I was visiting my 19 year old daughter that is a college athlete and she had games on Friday and Sunday. We checked in Friday night after her game. On Saturday early in the evening, I notified some debris and water on the floor in her bedroom. As I looked around further, there was a huge wet spot that covered most of her bed and her clothes on the bed. There was water leaking from the ceiling and from the side wall. The building is basically has three apartments with one of each of three floors. We were on the second floor. I messaged the host immediately and he called me about an hour later. His solution was to refund one of my two nights, deliver and air mattress and suggested that my daughter use the hair dryer to dry her clothes. So, I had to book a very expensive last minute stay at a hotel during Labor Day Weekend. My refund of 1 of the 2 nights resulting in me getting about 35% of my money back from the total cost, once you factor in the mandatory insurance that the host required. Very disappointing.

The host was super nice and thoughtful, when asked questions, she would answer right away. The house is historical, we got a chance to see the nice woodwork from the hardwood floor and kitchen cabinets. The rooms are spacious, and parking space is very large as well. The check in and check out instructions were very clear. The host really made our trip to New Haven easy and pleasant.

Nice property, Great communication, close to everything

We enjoyed our stay at this property. There was lots of room for us to gather and spend time together. The hosts were super helpful when we had any questions or issues and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The property was close to Yale and the freeway, which made it easy to get around. The house was well appointed with everything we needed and was a great deal for the price.

Spacious, Clean, and Convenient

I had such a wonderful stay at this VRBO! The hosts were very communicative and even included a gift before I arrived because they had noticed one of the televisions did not work. I stayed here for a conference at Yale, which was about a 15 minute walk away. The VRBO was in a great area, it was super clean, and everything I possibly could have needed was there. Highly recommend, and would absolutely stay again.

The unit was okay, not much more. It was exactly like any college apartment experience: old rundown house converted to apartments with thin walls, incredibly creaky floors/stairs, doors that won't close, very torn up driveway with huge potholes, etc.This place seemed to cater more to groups of college aged people looking for a pre/post bar hangout. The neighbors below (we were in the 2nd floor) weren't terribly loud but I could hear every conversation, laugh, and door slam - didn't make for a great nights sleep (for several nights). The unit is minimumly stocked - had to buy toilet paper and some other expected supplies - with appliances that don't work. The "couch" and adjacent furniture is the cheapest anyone could buy and very uncomfortable. They should've just bought old couches at Goodwill as those would've been better to actually sit on. The beds were okay.Would not rent again even though it is one of the lesser priced ones in New Haven.

Tough neighborhood; not convenient to Yale

If you're driving, this place is probably fine. But the house next door has bars on the windows. Not recommended for a visiting scholar or a woman who wants to walk around the neighborhood. The rental itself is well equipped, but there are no numbers on the units, so you have to guess which one is yours. One of the other tenants has a dog, so be careful if you have allergies. The neighborhood was rough enough that I didn't stay in this rental. Be careful.

I would strongly discourage anyone from staying here based on the safety of the neighborhood. We circled the block three times before determining that our safety was at risk. Houses had bars on windows, no trespassing and security signs, chain link fences with dilapidated exteriors and trash littered the street and yards. People were loitering up and down the street. And this was midafternoon. The house we rented looked in good shape and based on photos I am sure it was nice inside but we felt even unloading luggage from the car we would have been targets. We forfeited our rental fees and found a hotel. I messaged our host and respectfully shared my concerns. He replied back that some guests weren't accustomed to an urban setting. Maybe not, but I wasn't willing to take that chance.

In fact, this area is home to many hard-working families, and local residents who know the community well would not view it as dangerous.
