Our glamping experience is “semi-off the grid” and is close to a true camping experience. The style of our yurt is best described as bohemian. The pastoral scene wallpaper in the bathroom gives the feel of doin your business in the woods. On a moonless night it is quite dark out here as there are few lights. However, we have outdoor lighting when required. Stars are quite visible through the clear dome at night once you turn off the lights. We also turn the AC unit temperature display off which gets you pretty close to perfectly dark. While on the back deck there is a sense of being in a treehouse as the deck is integrated with a couple of live oak trees. The surrounding land has rocks with fossilized seashells from when this part of Texas was covered by ocean. You will also find numerous varieties of wildflowers rotating their colors in season as well as cactus, yucca and ashe juniper. We encourage you to walk about and explore the earth here as it can be quite relaxing and even hypnotic. You may discover arrowheads on the property as well as geodes. If you find either, they are yours to keep! It is common to hear bombs from the nearby army base as well as rocket testing at the Spacex rocket engine test facility 20 miles away in Mcgregor. These sights and sounds are all part of the charm of being in the northern hill country of Texas and we hope that you love it as much as we do! We encourage you to explore the 14 acres of the property but please watch for rattlesnakes and scorpions as these are indigenous to this part of Texas. The only place we request that you not go is under the yurt as it may be dangerous down there. If you are out at night, take a buddy and a flashlight and keep in mind that wildlife is present. It is typical for the county to be under a burn ban in this area so please be cautious, keep fires smaller and in the fire pit only. The best way to contact us is through the Airbnb app messaging. We see these immediately and will respond. This is a rural location. The yurt is the only structure on the 14 acre property. The neighbors are farmers and ranchers. However, we are close to town. The property entrance is off of FM 2412 approximately one quarter mile West of Oak Ridge Road. There is an automatic gate at the entrance with a keypad to the left. You will be given a code to enter the gate. Once inside, the gate will automatically close in 30 seconds. Proceed into the property along the path. You may only drive on the white gravel road while inside the property. Off-road vehicles are not allowed in the property. We do not allow the discharge of firearms on the property other than BB gun caliber. The neighbors are closer than you think and in all four directions and they will call the authorities if they hear gunfire. We do respect the second amendment and therefore do not forbid you bringing them for protection.
