Lovely house, met all our needs. We only stayed the weekend, but would be a great spot for a week-long stay with a fully stocked kitchen & washer dryer. Wish we’d had time for the bikes and an in-house meal. Quite clean & was more than spacious enough for 8 adults.
Was our first visit to Cape May and the Whalers is in a great location. Easy walk to shops and the beach. Great park for the kids at the end of the block.
Great neighborhood great location had everything we needed for a great vacation. Weather could’ve been a little warmer but all in all was a great week.
The house met our expectations. The rooms worked for our family of 3 adult couples and 6 children. The house was well appointed. The living room was perfect for the grandkids and the kitchen table large enough for our family. The grill was great, made 2 meals on it.The kitchen might have had more counterspace, we like to cook together.Overall a lovely summer vacation.
My family and I came to Cape May to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday. This was our first time staying at the Whaler’s Cottage, and we were very pleased. It is a beautiful house, and it is very clean. It is in a great location, about a 10 minute walk to Washington Street. Would 100% recommend and stay again!
The place was great - there were 8 of us and we were all able to have our own rooms - no body was on top each other - bathrooms were sufficient- everything was clean and easy to access I would definitely recommend this place
Had a great trip at whalers cottage we were there for an early June family trip and it this location was great. 1 minute walk to a great park with playgrounds, a pond, basketball and fishing and only 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Plenty of space for our group family of 4 (2 girls 5 and 3yo) and our nanny. We also had our friends stay for 2 nights who also have 2 toddlers and had plenty of space. The owner had great communication with us and really had all the essentials we needed in the shed. The only issue was that there was construction next door which was annoying but the workers were nice.
The home was lovely, clean and within walking distance to the beach and town. The street and surrounding area was beautiful and quiet. There is construction going on at the house next door, however, we were fortunate enough to get there on a Friday evening when the workers were shutting down for the weekend. The crew at the site did an excellent job ensuring the driveway was clean and fenced off. We had a wonderful time and thank the owners for allowing us the opportunity to stay in their lovely home.
Hi All - we are Scott and Rhonda Gibbs. We have restored two 5 Star vacation properties in Cape May. The Whalers Cottage built in 1870 is one of the most popular vacation rentals in Cape May w/over 50 5 star ratings. We just finished renovating The John Hand Black and White House Built in 1700 Listing # 4851711) This is a luxury retreat born out of a complete renovation of the oldest house in Cape May. We always try to give our guests a great experience while in one of the best places on earth - Cape May NJ!
Why they chose this property
The Whalers Cottage is just awesome. Its filled with high end amenities and is really comfortable, but also has a ton of artifacts from the 60's and 70's. Rhonda did all of the decorating and if you are 40-50 something you will see tons of little items around the brands we grew up with ; Coke, JNJ, Campbells reflected in there original form. It is on a quiet street and really convenient to beach, town and attractions
What makes this property unique
The house comfortably sleeps 10, has every amenity you could wish for. Park your car and use the bikes or walk everywhere. Sit out front in the AM for your coffee its shady and quiet. We love the house and plan to retire there someday. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
