About the host
Hosted by Kari O'Neill
My husband and I own a farm/ranch in southwestern South Dakota. We live 32 miles from our small rural community where we shop and are involved in church and a few organizations. I am retired from SDSU (South Dakota State University) in education, and we also own a vrbo property in the beautiful Black Hills. We enjoy working with our cattle herd, camping, fishing, traveling and any time with family (13 grandkids!) we can arrange. We love learning about our guests and hope to create a quality experience for you to remember as one of your best get-aways ever.
Why they chose this property
We have kids and grandkids in this area, so decided to purchase a home we can use, and also share it with you. We are in a quiet part of town a block west of the Fairgrounds, very close to a small park, and with friendly neighbors. Pipestone is close to Sioux Falls and Brookings, and has many activities for a town of 4000 people. The history of Native American settlement is rich and the Pipestone Monument is a must-see area with a beautiful hike. Several State Parks or recreation areas are close, along with a couple small lakes. There is much to do in a small area - something we are not used to on our ranch!
What makes this property unique
If you don't feel comfortable as you stay in our home we are not doing our job. For a smaller house, the rooms are spacious and the outdoor area gives you a private area to relax or play. We stock our house with kitchen and bathroom extras, and are close enough to grocery and other stores that what you'll need is always in reach. We've hosted through vrbo since 2012, have learned so much about being responsive to guests, and really enjoy giving individuals and families a beautiful home-stay experience.
