This is a great place to stay while in Yellowknife and It’s in a perfect location. The host was very easy to deal with and very quick with messaging back! I would definitely stay here again!
We had a really enjoyable relaxing stay while in the area for a family wedding.
Lots of room for everyone to sleep comfortably, hot tub was a treat and we had enjoyed the big dining room table for card games during the rain.
We had an absolutely amazing stay. The house was just as advertised and had plenty of room for us to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. In total there was 20 of us ranging from 2-72 years of age. The house was beautoful!
The hosts were amazing, quick to answer any questions and to make suggestions ie. photographers in the area.
During our stay we even had family photos in their backyard to celebrate my parents 50th and the engagement of my oldest son!!
The house was equipped with everything we should have needed and was clean.
It was absolutely perfect for our family! There were 15 of us ranging in age from 2-73! It fit us all perfectly with room to spare! Everything about the place met or exceeded expectations! We would rent it again and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Scotch Creek!
The "cabin" that 15 of us stayed in at Scotch Creek was the best accommodation we have encountered in our 7 years of family gatherings. It was beautifully laid out to accommodate different age groups and activities (board games, jigsaw puzzle, video games, reading, hide and seek!).
The kitchen and linen supplies were above and beyond expectations.
Proximity to the lake, availability of rentals, delightful decks and the huge hot tub also added to the desirability of the property.
The only problem - if too many people know how spectacular this property is, there won't be room for us to return.
The location close to the beach is great, and the size of the house is good for accommodating a large group. Lots of parking. Some of the amenities are top notch ie the dishwasher and the barbeques. Lots of fridges, 2 in the house and 2 small ones on the side patio. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes but lacking some larger cookware. Beds were comfortable and nice bedding. The arcade game was a big hit with our grandkids. No air conditioning so it was warm, especially in the evening and night. Lots of fans so that helped. The house, patios and deck are great besides needing a bit of maintenance ie stain, but we were a bit dissapponted in the yard and firepit area- it wasn't as nice as in the pictures. The back deck is shaded by trees so that was awesome, and the patio lights are a nice touch. We almost didn't get to use the hot tub/swim spa as there was an issue with the filtering when we got there. The host called the spa company to come the next day and then it was going to be Tuesday, then ended up they didn't come until after we left on Friday. Luckily we own one and were able to get the water inhabitable for the 2nd half of our stay. This amenity was important to us, as we think it would be to a lot of guests.
Overall our family had a great time. Thank you to our host Jen for being flexible to our needs and helping to make this a memorable and enjoyable holiday!
It was more than we thought it would be, home and surroundings were beautiful. Everything we needed was there that we needed. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding was top notch. The children loved it so much they didn’t want to go home. We plan to go back.
Karen, Jennifer and their spouses were great hosts. There was some last minute changes to the amenities due to damage from previous guests, but they were wonderful at ensuring we would have an amazing time and we did!
If you’re looking for a place that will accommodate a large group with enough space to not feel cramped, this is a great spot. There’s lots of outdoor/indoor areas and it’s very close to the lake!
Since we have returned 3 times obviously we have enjoyed staying at the property. We were a little concerned this time as ownership had changed after we had booked however the new owners were pleasant and responded quickly to questions.
It was very smoky for the first few days but that didn’t hamper our boating sitting on the beach etc
Our family had a good time again
We had an amazing time and the property was fantastic! There were 15 of us, from 5-65 and the property was ideal for all ages. The hosts were excellent and accommodating. 2 min walk to the beach, which was very convenient. Can’t recommend enough!
Our family had a great time during our stay at this property. The deck was a nice spot for a quiet morning coffee and the beautiful table in the dining room was perfect for family dinners. It was close to the marina where we parked the boat we rented and it was a quick walk to the beach. Highly recommended for family get togethers!
This location well exceeded our expectations. It was definitely the perfect place for a larger family gathering. Tons of space for everyone plus more. From the minute we arrived the hosts were so welcoming and went above and beyond for what we needed.
We will definitely be coming back and recommending to all of our friends
Our stay for the Thanksgiving weekend was enjoyable for everyone in our group. The home is very big, with fenced in backyard and lots of parking. Can tell the home has been well loved, but no major concerns. We had plenty of kids running around and multiple families and found that we could hear anything between rooms. Not a problem unless you are looking for a quiet time away. All bedding and supplies at the home were more than sufficient for our large group. The loft is great for kids aged 10-18 as a very steep ladder into this loft where there are 6 of the chalets beds are located. Younger children will find this ladder intimidating and parents will stress over their children's constant need to attempt to climb. We just laid ground rules and it was fine. Joel, the property owner and Don the caretaker were fantastic to deal with and timely with info and assistance when requested. Don lives next door and was a big help when checking in. Only point we could offer for future bookings, enquire about the hot tub. We were told 2 weeks before our stay that the hot tub was not available due to damage caused by previous visitors. It would be a shame to book this place for a snowmobiling trip etc.. and still not have use of the hot tub. Other than this though, the entire stay was great and experience at Son Country Chalet, in all aspects, was fun and easy. Thank you to Joel and Don for a great weekend!
Cheers!
Because there was no picture of the room with queen and double there was confusion about sleeping arrangements. Lots of towel both bath and kitchen, awesome. Tinfoil over oven racks( probably meant to keep things clean) did not allow for correct cooking time, heat could not travel up. Thanks so much we had a great time. Not a lot of places that can house 18 people.
