About this property

Les Trois Terrasses - A Memorable Vacation In A Charming Village House

Welcome to Les trois terrasses centrally located in Roussillon, in the heart of the Luberon mountains. Our traditional stone Provencal house offers a comfortable accommodation for up to six people. The house includes a living room/dining room with a sectional sofa bed, fireplace and TV with satellite British programmes and a dining room table and six chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large stove (gas cooktop and electric oven), dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven and large fridge.
There are four spacious bedrooms: one has a queen-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with bathtub, satellite TV and terrace with a view. The second bedroom has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. The third bedroom has twin beds and in the fourth bedroom there is a single bed. Both the third and fourth bedrooms share a bathroom with shower and a balcony with a panoramic view.
One of the highlights of Les trois terrasses is a large terrace off the kitchen, an oasis of serenity where, after a long day of traveling you can cool off in the small dipping pool, bask in the sunshine, read a book and, of course, enjoy food and wine in the shaded summer dining area.
Your vacation experience at Les trois terrasses starts in Roussillon, one of the most beautiful villages in Provence. Roussillon sites include an 18th century Town Hall, 17th century church and towering ramparts. Roussillon has narrow winding streets and a village square with outdoor cafés, the meeting place for locals and visitors alike. At over 300 meters elevation you also get wonderful panoramic views across the valley to the Grand Luberon, the slopes of Mont Ventoux, and the plateau of the Vaucluse. But Roussillon is most renowned for its unforgettable ochre quarry. The rich warmth of the quarry's colours are everywhere in the village. From Roussillon it is an easy drive to other popular perched villages such as Gordes, Lacoste and Bonnieux. Excursions to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Cassis and many other destinations can be made easily during the day.
History, museums, architecture, antiquities, hiking, biking, Mediterranean beaches, gastronomy, wine tastings and vineyards, local markets, and shopping all await you in the Roussillon area.

At home in Roussillon
Excellent base. Great having so many bathrooms. Loved the terrace, plunge pool and outdoor living. Lots of dining options indoor and outdoor. The location was perfect for accessing a lot close by, especially if you are into nature: poppies, lavender, rocky hills, gorges etc. Good markets close by. We didn't do a lot of long trips except to Pont du Gard, the Chauvet caves, the Carriere des Lumieres. A new find was the foret de cedres near Bonnieux. A lovely spot and even had a wheelchair "walk" which was great as one of us had recently broken a leg.

Great Stay in The Luberon - Loved it.
We spent 7 nights at this homestay. Christian is a wonderful host. Our flight was delayed and we missed our connection - consequently my aunt arrived a full day before us and he helped her navigate to the rental by herself in the dark. Christian answered all of our calls. The house is beautiful & oozes charm. Everything worked as it should. The photos on VRBO do not do it justice. The house is very well set up for a vacation rental - no photos of someones family on the walls, lots of books and DVDs, great internet, plenty of storage for our clothes and things, all the local tourist informational pamphlets, clean white bedding, dishwasher, hot hot water for bathing, 4 toilettes, 2 showers, 1 claw foot bathtub, full size washer, dryer was ok but there are 2 large dry lines outside. The cooling pool (imagine a cool large not-hot hot tub) was great. The outdoor grill was great for cooking without heating up the house. There is no AC available so it can get warm in the late evening - we were staying in July and temperatures were over 90F most days, but opening all the windows around 10PM and closing everything up around 10AM kept things comfortable. We cooked our dinners there most evenings and the kitchen felt very gourmet and very well stocked - the knives were dull but I sharpened them the best I could. Everything in the village is just a few minutes walk. Parking can be a challenge. The garage could fit a small fiat 500 or similar but did not fit our Jeep or our 5+2 Citroen. We were able to park one car along a wall behind the unit although I am still unsure if that was legal or not, it seemed the residents had a special sticker to park in these areas - regardless we did not get a ticket. There is also a long term parking lot for 3 Euros per day behind the Vival grocery store about a 5 minute walk. We did make the mistake of parking overnight in the central parking lot (which is free from 21:00h to 9:00h if I recall correctly) on market day and our car was towed. The local police were very friendly and helpful - they drove us to where the car was towed and the towing fee was a fraction of what you would pay in the U.S. Roussillon is beautiful. Lots of english speakers running the local businesses. Lots of tourist during the day, but we spent most days touring around the Luberon so we didn't see them too much. The town was very quiet in the mornings until about 10:00h and after 17:00h. I am out of characters - Overall, great, I recommend.

First the good news…
The house was in a perfect location for exploring Roussillon and the environs. It is an old house and had challenges but all in all it was a good choice for our party of five. Now for the not good news - the property manager was completely AWOL. Be aware there are three Roussillons and my phone first took us to the wrong one. the manager did not meet us but hid a key. didn’t tell us where to park. didn’t respond to many messages/questions and when the smoke alarm started to chirp we had to disable it ourselves. the cleaners showed up a day early. thelinens were terrible. if the property manager issue was resolved i would highly recommend this home - we had a lovely time in Roussillon and beyond but it certainly could have been less stressful.

What makes this property unique

We fall in love with the Luberon Region, especially with the hilltop village Roussillon. It is one of the most beautiful places in the South of France. In this village is everything what makes a vacation memorable...Restaurants, Bistros, Cafés, Bakery, Grocerystore, etc.
