About this property
Spectacular Top of the Rockies 4 Bedroom Mountain Home Near Vail
Sunny, modern mountain home nestled below a stunning red rock cliff along the designated Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway! A solar array of 36 panels makes this off grid home feel like on grid living, but it is powered by clean solar energy. We are located at 9,200 feet, 10 mins to Ski Cooper, 25-30 mins to either Vail, Beaver Creek or Leadville on dry roads, yet easily accessible with a short private driveway to access the house off the scenic byway. Snow Cross Inn, named for the famous Mt. of the Holy Cross peak visible from the property, is the perfect location for a true Colorado mountain experience! Enjoy dinners on the patio using our propane gas grill and fire pit table or in the solarium featuring floor to ceiling windows making it feel like a snow glove during snowstorms. Coffee in the mornings in the solarium or yoga on the sun drenched deck will start your day off with a smile. Sun bathe on the lounge chairs. Family games outside in the summer and inside in the winter bring a sense of togetherness often lacking in our busy lives. Endless outdoor activities right out your back door in the White River Natioanl Forest include cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, alpine skiing, sledding and more!
On the upper level, two bedrooms with spectacular mountain and night sky views and a full bathroom will sleep up to 7 guests. The main floor living and kitchen areas open out to a solarium to take in the amazing sunshine or snowfall and mountain views. Step out onto the patio with a six seat table with fire pit and grill. An additional outdoor table is located just above the deck area on the patio.
There is a convenient half bath on the main level as well. The lower level has two more bedrooms, full bath and a second living space with a second TV and a pull out sofa. The lower solarium has a ping pong table and a foosball table with huge doors that open up to the private 800 sq ft deck with a fire pit table and is surrounded by wildflowers in summer and snow in winter. The views are incredible from every level.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for family meals with dinnerware, glassware and basic seasonings including olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For cooking there are pots and pans and a gas stove, full refrigerator, microwave, large kitchen island with seating for six. The bistro area located just off the kitchen has four swivel chairs for additional seating between the kitchen and living rooms.

Check-out instructions
The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and return the keys
There is a shed located near the lower tiny home and we ask that guests bring their trash to the shed upon departure to discourage critters coming into the house to snack.
If you are unable to take your trash to the shed, please text Mark at the number provided and he will take care of it. We just don't want trash left in the house.
Please don't forget to return the key to the lockbox!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

About the host
Hosted by Eileen
The Jacobs Family has lived in Colorado for over 45 years, moving from the Vail Valley to the Leadville area in 2017. RG and Eileen have two children, Galen and Meghan, and two grandsons. The family enjoys skiing together at Ski Cooper, Vail and Beaver Creek and boating in summer at Turquoise Lake in Leadville.
Why they chose this property
The breathtaking scenery captured our hearts upon our first visit to Snow Cross. Even seasoned mountain people like us cannot help but be taken by the natural beauty that surrounds the property and the proximity to laid-back skiing at Ski Cooper and boating on Turquoise and Twin Lakes.
What makes this property unique
The genuine Colorado experience with the proximity to world class resorts and outdoor activities sets this property apart.
