We had an incredible time. Able to bike into town and to all the mountain biking trails right from our house. During our stay we saw multiple deer grazing the property. Not to mention we witnessed the most incredible thunder storm and having the covered porches to sit outside was Incredible. 10/10 we will be back.
Everything was perfect. Clean. Close to trails. Near New River Gorge National Park. Wildlife on property was amazing. We even had a bear show up! I would stay at this property again.
Great location when visiting New River Gorge. The house has “11” beds and pull outs to sleep an additional 3. We had 3 families so it worked out great. Kitchen was well stocked and the house was very clean. It’s close to a lot of stores, restaurants but yet you feel like you’re out in country. Nice outdoor fire pit and a pool table. We had a few minor issues but the owner lives close and was quick to fix them. I would stay here again and recommend it for families.
Wonderful place. Beautiful setting. Hosts are best communicators. If you have a large family and are going White Water rafting on the New River - this is the place for you. Highest recommendation.
The Ramsey Mountain Lodge is in the perfect location to quickly get to all the outdoor activities Fayetteville and Ace Adeventure Park has to offer! The house was clean and cozy.
We had a wonderful time at the stone lodge, and were really impressed with how many things there are to do in Fayetteville. Thank you to Sally and Bill for making this property available for visitors!
Super close to all the local activities you could do in town or around the Fayetteville and New River Gorge area. My group of friends had ample space and felt secluded at the house while still being close to all mentioned above. I’m so thankful for the best weekend with some of my best friends from near and far in the state I’m proud to call home!
The house was perfect. It had everything we needed. It was very comfortable and the kids loved the yard. The time with our children and grandchildren was very special. Many happy memories made in your home. Thank you
Great location to visit New River Gorge National Park!
Lovely grounds, property and location. Beautiful porch.
The listing says that it sleeps up to 14, but I would say that not if 14 adults. There were 10 of us and the bunk beds for 4 normal size adults would be quite uncomfortable. However, it would probably be great for kids
Ramsey Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to stay in the New River Gorge! Situated on a quiet road amidst the woods, it's private and secluded, but close to everything. Fayetteville is minutes away, and the New River Gorge Bridge is not much further. The house is clean, roomy and well-appointed. A great place to relax after a busy day of exploring in the Gorge or Babcock State Park. We loved the pool table!
We stayed at this house with a group of 10 friends. The house was perfect with so many beds. We enjoyed having a large private yard for corn hole and horseshoes. The firepit is a great addition to the yard, and it seats many people. Most of our time was spent outdoors, but having the pool table was nice too. The house was very clean, and there were plenty of linens. I would recommend this property to anyone and would stay here again myself.

About the host
Hosted by Bill Wells
Bill and Sally Wells are the owners of the property and live nearby. Sally grew up on the property. Bill is a native of Upper St. Clair, PA and moved to WV in 1981 where he worked as a mining engineer. After living in several different states, we moved back to Fayetteville in 2012.
Why they chose this property
Sally's father built the house in 1955. We both love the outdoors and have vacationed here for many years. We were fortunate to be able to purchase the property for a weekend getaway in 2007. In August, we moved into a newly built home on the property. During construction of the new house, the original house was completely remodeled as a vacation rental.
What makes this property unique
The property contains 25 mostly wooded acres that are shared by the Ramsey Mountain Lodge, the Sugar Creek Chalet (vrbo #563229) and our residence. The house is secluded but is a short 20 minute walk into downtown Fayetteville where there are many unique restaurants, shops and pubs. The stonework on the house was completed by skilled Italian stone masons whose work can be seen throughout Fayetteville. The house has a roomy interior with hardwood and tile floors, stone fireplaces with gas logs, granite counter tops, hardwood paneling and many other features. A pool table is located in the finished basement and a stone fire pit and horseshoe court are in the yard. The house is located on the edge of the plateau and the view from the front porch is of the valley below and the adjacent mountains. The house is an excellent location for mountain biking or hiking. The National Park trail heads are only a few miles away. Larger groups of up to 29 can be accommodated by renting both the Ramsey Mountain Lodge and Sugar Creek Chalet (vrbo 563229).
