About this property
Rustic Mountain Homestead near Rivers, Redwoods, & Ruth Lake.
Take it easy at our unique and tranquil getaway. From hanging out in a hammock, hiking to the river, or stargazing under dark skies, relax and rejuvenate far from city chaos.
Learn to preserve food, bake sourdough, or create your own electricity! Let us know when you book for special offers.
Find glorious vistas, perfect for photography, painting, or any type of retreat.
Close to Redwoods Parks, Ruth Lake, the Van Duzen & Mad Rivers, or 6 Rivers National Forest for swimming, hunting or fishing.
The space
This is a mountain homestead, little is level! You MUST have enough clearance on your vehicle to handle a steep dirt driveway. In wet or snowy weather that means AWD or 4WD. Your vehicle will be safely parked behind an electronic gate.
Once here you will take a few steps up into your lodging, formerly home to our business, now remodeled into this simple lodging, with a couple rooms for our private use (with separate entrances),
Upon entering you will come to 3 rooms with comfortable sleeping space for 4 people. One larger bedroom with either 2 extra long twin beds OR a king bed as you prefer. Two smaller bedrooms with an extra long twin bed each. Bedding is provided. A 5th person can be accommodated on the futon couch in the common room.
There is a bathroom with shower, but no bath. Towels and toiletries available (Bring your own towels for river or lake use). Extra bedding is also available.
You will find the larger ‘Common Room’ at the end of the hall. It contains the full kitchen with all you need for food preparation, the dining/game area, small self-contained office space in a cupboard (!), and comfy sofa with 40” screen for viewing any of the many DVDs we have available.
You have a large private outdoor area, and a trail to the river below. You can lounge in our hammocks, inspect our garden, hang out under the stars around our property.
Guest access
You have full access to the rooms, bath, and common room. You’ll have your own outdoor space here in the shade of tall oaks with a fire pit, BBQ, picnic table, horseshoe pit and more. Croquet and Bocce ball sets available for outdoor fun, board games, cards, books and DVDs and player for indoor time.
A corner of the Common Room has a computer work space with power and wifi access. It can be enclosed when not in use.
Our home is in a separate building, and work spaces are also right here. Please respect our space. While you can roam the property, please do not pick flowers or produce without permission or go into our hen coop. If you go out a gate, close it behind you.
Other things to note
Again, you MUST have enough clearance on your vehicle to handle a steep dirt driveway. In wet or snowy weather that means AWD or 4WD.
Great for crews working in our remote area. Secure parking for your rigs and gear.
We are only 5 minutes from a small store and laundromat, but the closest real town is about an hour away. Try to make sure you have the important food, gas, and other supplies you require before heading in on Highway 36.
