Long called "The Summer Place", this secluded retreat off the Kalamazoo River is IDEAL YEAR ROUND. The Summer Place is a short walk to downtown Saugatuck, filled with shops, galleries, restaurants and nightlife. Nearby is the spectacular Oval Beach. There could not be a better place to visit.

Your private studio cottage includes a queen bed, sitting area, cathedral ceiling, private deck, pull out couch (single), full bath (shower, no tub), wet bar with sink, refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, WiFi, off-street parking, air conditioning, heat and ceiling fan (seasonal). DOGS WELCOME FOR ONE-TIME $75 FEE.

We love this little cottage. It’s just perfect for the two of us. We always get a warm greeting from the owner and the place has so many little amenities that make it welcoming and cozy. The short walk to town is perfect. Excellent in all ways.

Excellent stay

The cottage was the perfect “overflow” accommodations for our family reunion. Great location, clean with lots of nice little touches (like home baked muffins!). Janet communicated all the check in information clearly and met us at the door the morning we checked in. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved our cozy cabin. Very, very clean and perfectly located to the downtown area. 3 minute walk to water and restaurants. Listened to music at Wicks Park which is also in walking distance from house. We took our dog and she loved all the places to walk to. Janet was a great hostess and very helpful with where to go and things to do. This place is a hidden gem. Highly recommend for your next getaway. We will come back and stay here.

Janet’s cottage was the perfect stay in Saugatuck. The location was perfect, the parking spot was incredibly helpful and Janey was a terrific host. The cottage was spotless and perfect for 2 people. Also, Janet baked us muffins one day and provided us with mini champagne bottles to celebrate a birthday. It was perfect! I could not recommend it more.

Perfect location in Saugatuck

Cozy coach house meant for 2. Great for long weekend. It’s close to everything in downtown Saugatuck. It was great to bring our dogs too. Thanks to Janet for being a great host!

Wedding Weekend

We attended a wedding in Holland and decided to stay close to the water in Saugatuck at this quaint cottage near town. It was within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants, and only 15 min. from the other guests & friends staying in the Castle Park neighborhood. Janet, our host, was a great communicator and welcomed us with a walk-thru and answered any questions we had. Would definitely recommend others to enjoy time in Saugatuck and the surrounding area. My partner and I love this place-clean, cozy, quiet, comfortable and has everything you’d ever need. However, the best thing about this place are the owners. They make the stay so great with their welcome and interest in our wandering without being overbearing. We will always go back there because of them.

This was our first time visiting Saugatuck. It was a perfect spot for my fiancé, dog and myself. We loved exploring the area and were able to walk to everything in Saugatuck. Janet was kind and helpful. It was an easy check in/ check out process and property was cozy and clean!

Relaxing Retreat in Saugatuck

We had a lovely stay in The Summer Place. This hidden cottage is located perfectly—a short walk to all of the downtown Saugatuck amenities. We found the cottage clean and stocked with all of the comforts of home—including a fridge with breakfast snacks. The owners are friendly and baked us fresh muffins every morning! We brought our dog and he loved the grassy back yard. We’d highly recommend staying at The Summer Place for a quiet, relaxing retreat!

Perfect in every way

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Janet’s cottage. She is very warm and friendly and she had cookies waiting for us in the cottage that were really yummy! The pictures don’t it it justice, the cottage is very charming and well decorated and the view outside the patio doors was lovely and made it secluded and private. The location is perfect, short walk to everything. Loved it.

Cozy and private getaway near all the great things that Saugatuck has to offer.

The Summer Place was a great getaway for us. Janet was an wonderful host and has thought of everything you might need on your vacation. If you forgot it, she has it for you. The property was perfect for bringing our little chihuahua as well. Even on a hot summer day, the cottage is a cool and relaxing place to return to after a day at the beach or shopping at all the wonderful shops. It is definitely a place we plan to return to.

The Summer Place is perfect in every way. Perfectly sized space ideal for two+ with charm to spare.

You’ll want to come back every year for no other reason than to see your wonderful hosts, Fred & Janet. Saugatuck and Douglas have all their magic, and most people out and about are covid-observant. This was the perfect place for our first trip to Michigan! Very clean, quiet and we slept in every day so it was ideal for a relaxing week. We loved the restaurants, especially Malu for breakfast, Morro’s for pizza and Pennyroyal. Also unique shops and stores. We loved walking everywhere and it was safe and people were very friendly.
