About this property
Cape Romain Wildlife Camp on the Intracoastal: A Nature Lover’s Paradise!
In the heart of the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge, nestled within the majestic Francis Marion National Forest, sits a hidden gem like no other. Here, the air is thick with the sounds of nature, and the sunsets paint the sky over the famous bird sanctuary of White Island. From the edge of the dock, you can gaze across Graham Creek, where it winds its way into Bulls Bay, a fishing paradise that calls to anglers from around the world. Whether you’re here to kayak the flats, bike the scenic trails, or simply soak in the breathtaking views, this is a place where nature takes center stage, and adventure is waiting right outside your door.
Why You Absolutely Should NOT Rent This Place:
If bug bites ruin your day, don’t bother. This is mosquito central, and they're relentless (Please pack bug spray).
There may or may not be banana spiders on the property—actual banana-sized spiders. But hey, they just want to hang out in their webs, no big deal.
If seeing a snake or dolphin gives you nightmares, this isn’t your spot. We’ve got both, and on any given day, you might see them along with flocks of eight to 10 white egrets strutting through the yard. Seagulls on the dock and pelicans flying overhead.
Don't even get me started on the fire ants. Step in the wrong spot, and you’ll know real quick you’re in their territory.
This is a wildlife refuge. If you plan to complain about creatures doing their creature thing, please keep scrolling. We’ve intentionally designed this camp to be as natural as possible, and that includes the critters that might find their way inside. Yes, even in the pool house, you may encounter a rogue palmetto bug, fruit flies, or ants. It’s part of the charm!
---
The Space:
Set on over 2 acres of pristine waterfront land, this private pool house offers a nature-immersive experience with all the comforts you need. The property sleeps four comfortably with:
One king bed in the main room and a twin trundle bed that can be pulled out to form either another king bed or two double beds—choose your adventure!
A fully stocked kitchen for whipping up meals in between wildlife sightings. The closest grocery store is SeeWee Outpost about 10 minutes away. We recommend Instacart which will deliver all of your supplies.
1.5 baths because even in the wild, a bit of luxury is essential.
Adjacent to the pool house is a playhouse/garage with ping pong, a washer/dryer, a full bathroom with a shower, and a kitchenette—an extra retreat when you need it.
There are three exterior security cameras on the property:
1) At the screen door entrance to the Pool House
2) At the end of the Pool House fence facing the entrance and driveway of the property
3) On the back steps of the Pool House facing the fire pit and Intracoastal Waterway
---
Outdoor Adventures Galore:
Cool off in the saltwater pool or relax in the hot tub (heated for an additional charge).
The dock sits right on the Intracoastal Waterway, offering endless tidal views. While the water levels fluctuates and the dock is only accessible a couple of hours around high tide, a boat ramp for your fishing boat is just a five-minute drive away. And from here, you're a short ride to some of the best flats fishing in the world at Bulls Bay.
Bring your bikes and hit the nearby Francis Marion hiking trails including the Palmetto Trail with gorgeous boardwalks along Island Creek, Shell Rain Park with some of the largest oak trees you'll ever see along the water, and Awendaw Town Park with a gorgeous lake and bike trails.—whether cycling or hiking, there are plenty of trails to explore.
---
Other Things to Note:
The property runs on well water and a septic system, so please only flush the essentials to keep things running smoothly. We do have gas powered hot water heaters. So you should have a leak-free roof over your head, good AC, freshwater, decent bathrooms, and a warm shower. That's about all we can guarantee!
This is not just a place to stay—it’s an immersive wildlife experience. Perfect for nature lovers looking for an adventure, but if you're squeamish about bugs, snakes, or wildlife in general, this may not be for you!
If you’re the type who craves the call of the wild, panoramic views, and unforgettable encounters with nature, you’ll feel right at home here. Otherwise, you’ve been warned!
