Eco-Friendly Luxury Riverside Escape with Panoramic Views
The Clarence
Unwind, relax and enjoy the pristine surroundings of the Clarence River and experience living off grid in luxury, without compromising lifestyle and comfort. The Clarence is a unique and tranquil country retreat set in a beautifully remote location. Run only on solar power, it is a quiet refuge away from everything, allowing you to detach from all outside distractions. Enjoy amazing views and vistas in all directions at any time of the day.
The Clarence is an eco-friendly masterpiece of steel, concrete, glass and wood with a beautiful north facing aspect. The combination of industrial raw materials combined with the surrounding natural environment, makes the space something completely unforgettable and very special.
When you book at The Clarence, you will have exclusive access to the property including the main house with its beautiful large deck that overlooks the Clarence River, as well as a studio and five bell tents - making it the perfect location for large groups.
The Main House:
1 Bedroom with King bed, TV and ceiling fan. Sleeps total of 2 guests.
The kitchen includes all the basic amenities you'll need for a comfortable stay, including a Nespresso coffee machine to enjoy your morning coffee. As the property operates on solar power the kitchen does not run an oven or stovetop. However, the premium barbeque conveniently doubles as an oven and cooktop so meals can be easily prepared and enjoyed in comfort. We also provide a number of smaller portable gas cooktops as well.
The large timber deck complete with the barbeque, ample comfortable lounge seating and European Oak and steel dining table, flows off the kitchen, dining and loungeroom. The outdoor dining table seats up to 12 guests with an additional 6 guests at the inside dining table.
When not enjoying the view from the deck, retreat inside to relax on the couch in front of the cosy wood fired heater or lose yourself in a good book.
The modern bathroom, located next to the main house has a rainwater shower with both hot and cold water and an environmentally friendly compost toilet.
The Studio:
1 Queen bed, 1 King Single bed with pull out trundle bed with ceiling fan. Sleeps total of 4 guests.
Main Bell Tent:
2 Queen mattresses. Sleeps total of 4 guests.
We do have an additional 4 bell tents located on the property. Two with 1 Queen mattress in each and two with 2 Single mattresses in each. Sleeps an additional 8 guests.
Beds are beautifully styled with luxurious linen, ensuring 5-star comfort in the middle of the bush.
Pet Policy:
We’re happy to welcome pets! A pet fee of $100 per stay for up to 2 pets applies to cover additional cleaning and wear. This fee will be requested separately after booking. Please let us know in advance if you’ll be bringing a pet.
Activities:
With the mighty Clarence River literally at your doorstep, directly in front of the property, our guests enjoy fishing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding and swimming. In addition, we have a Golf deck to practise your swing with a small tub of golf balls provided. If you plan on hitting a few however, please bring extras along with you.
Alternatively, you may simply choose to lose yourself in the quietness of your surroundings, listen to the birds, be in awe of the 35m tall Flooded Gums, the Ironbarks and Tallowoods that adorn the property.
There are a variety of things to do in the surrounding area. A local favourite is visiting Bald Rock National Park, a 90-minute drive from The Clarence or just over a short 20-minute drive North, you will find the quaint village of Tabulam which has a convenience store, a pub and a post office.
Our neighbouring property operate wonderful horse trail rides along the river and through their property. We would be happy to book and organise this for you during your stay if interested.
After a busy day exploring, partaking in activities or just relaxing, our outdoor fire pit surrounded by rustic seating, beckons. As night falls, settle in for a cosy night by the fire and view the beautiful night sky and constellations without any light pollution.
However you decide to spend your time, you have an entire 30 acres of serenity to yourself, along with 1km of the picturesque Clarence River.
Surrounding Area -
Alice is a small New South Wales rural location within the local government area of Clarence Valley (approximately 715km North of Sydney). Our suggestion if you're flying from interstate would be to fly into Ballina, hire a car and drive to Alice which should take approximately 2 hours by car.
We will not always be there to meet and greet you upon your arrival at The Clarence. However, prior to your check-in we will provide you with a detailed list of instructions, our Welcome Guide and House Rules to remove any confusion and give you peace of mind to fully enjoy your stay.
