Relax in the mountains, Varatec

Our house is situated in Varatec, a peaceful and unique village in the Carpathian Mountains. The two rooms are situated upstairs and have a private toilette. The kitchen is downstairs and can be used whenever. We are opening the doors for guests who are interested in learning more about the quite life of the romanian country side. We can prepare traditional food for the guests who are willing to try the romanian biological products.

Varatec is a village in the county of Neamt, Romania, which is famous for the beautiful Varatec Monastery and also for its connection with Mihai Eminescu's poetry. The silver forest (ro: padurea de argint) is described by Mihai Eminescu in the poem "Calin (file din poveste)" and the area played a special role for the poet's creation, being a source of inspiration for it. Near the Monastery there is the tomb of Veronica Micle, Eminescu's girlfriend. The village streets hide many secrets and the elders told the descendants how Mihai was visiting Veronica here.

Varatec Monastery is part of the Romanian national heritage, being an Orthodox monastery where more than 400 nuns live. The monastery was founded in 1785 and consists of several churches, the central one being the "The sleep of the Mother of God" church (ro: "Adormirea Maicii Domnului"). The monarchal area is surrounded by the monastery village, composed by the traditional peasant houses where the nuns live and which are lined on the narrow streets of the village.

Our house is located near the forest and there are countless routes for those interested in outdoor activities. For example, from Varatec you can get to Sihla, another monastery high up in the mountains. In order to reach it, one has to pass through a wonderful glade, Ciungi which is as well a point with 360 degree view. The route has medium difficulty and it reaches Sihla in 5-7 hours depending on one's physical condition. And for the less active, there are paths closer to home.

Notice that we are not a hotel, we just want to open up our house for those people who want to experience a different lifestyle than the one in the city.

RO: Manastirea Varatec face parte din patrimoniul national romanesc, fiind o manastire ortodoxa unde vietuiesc peste 400 maici. Manastirea a fost fondata in anul 1785 si e formata din mai multe biserici, cea centrala fiind biserica "Adormirea Maici Domnului". Incinta monarhala este inconjurata de satul manastiresc, alcatuit din casele traditionale taranesti unde locuiesc maicile si care se insira pe ulite inguste.

Casa noastra e situata langa padure si exista trasee nenumarate pentru cei interesati de activitati in aer liber. De exemplu, din Varatec se poate ajunge la pas la schitul Sihla, o alta manastire in creierul muntilor. Pentru a ajunge la aceasta, se trece printr-o poiana minunata, Ciungi, care are de asemenea o vedere la 360 de grade. Parcursul e de dificultate medie si se ajunge la Sihla in 5-7 ore depinzand de conditia fizica. Si pentru cei mai putin activi, exista trasee de parcurs aproape de casa.

Observati ca nu suntem o pensiune ci pur si simplu dorim sa deschidem portile acelor persoane ce doresc sa experimenteze un alt stil de viata decat cel din oras.
