Fabulous Modern Farmhouse feel!

Nicole was one of the best hosts I’ve ever booked with. The property was nothing short of amazing and Nicole paid attention to the tiniest details to make our stay seamless. We needed to extent our checkout and Nicole was very accommodating…we will definitely return in the future!

Birthday Weekend at the Farmhouse

My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay at this historic farmhouse in Pomaria. Great host. The spacious house and accommodations were great. The house was clean and inviting. Fresh-cut flowers throughout the home; greeting card and cupcakes on the kitchen table waiting for our arrival; fresh milk and fresh eggs in the refrigerator to enjoy at breakfast. With the warm July weather we took advantage of the private pool at backside of the property. Despite the house’s age, the house was equipped with climate-controlled air conditioning that was appreciated given the weather of upper 90 degree days outside. Our stay experience engendered a definite return trip visit in the future.

I am a recently-retired high school principal who is a dual Australian and American citizen. I fell in love with Oakland House when I saw it for sale online 15 years ago. At the time, I was living in Australia. I bought it and moved my family to the USA without ever seeing it in person! After many happy years of living and raising a family in the home, it became an empty nest. I decided it was time to make it available for other people to enjoy, and and to start a new chapter in Oakland House history. I still live in South Carolina and regularly visit my Australian family.

Why they chose this property

Pomaria is such a peaceful rural town that it is hard to believe it is only 15 minutes from Newberry, Chapin, and Jenkinsville. Lake Murray and Lake Monticello are only a short drive away, and guests can usually get to Columbia and the airport in about 45 minutes.
I love my Pomaria neighbors who are always ready with a smile and a wave, but respect each others space and privacy.

What makes this property unique

I love the feeling of being part of Oakland House's long and unique history with character that is warm and welcoming.
In summer, the pool or the covered porches are great places to relax and quietly unwind.
In winter, there is nothing like sitting in front of a crackling indoor or outdoor wood fire.
