About this property

Charming Barndo on 46 Acres of Peace

Nestled in Clarendon, NC, near the SC border, this cozy barndo exudes a serene charm in a setting where you can unwind and enjoy nature away from the hustle and bustle of a busy world. The 420-square foot indoor space features a queen bed, large sofa, fully stocked kitchen, refrigerator with ice maker and filtered water, a large dresser, high speed WiFi, and a large TV with and HDMI connection, and a good old fashioned bluray player with assorted movies. There are books and games to enjoy as well.

The bathroom provides a bathtub/shower and bidet for a brilliant touch of comfort. Heating and AC ensure a pleasant stay year-round. The 300 sq. ft. screened in porch with ceiling fans provides bug free outdoor living, and the two-person hot tub offers relaxation while you observe a one-acre pond and sometimes some wildlife.

This private mini campground is 1,000 feet off the road in the woods in a rural setting, yet only 30 miles from the beautiful beaches of North and South Carolina. Take a day to enjoy the busy beach towns and head back to peace and quiet under a beautiful starry sky.

Take time for solitude or connect with loved ones with a hike along two-miles of wooded trails, make a bonfire, fish in the pond, ride the bike, or play a number of outdoor games which you can find in the well-stocked toy shed. There are even two paddle boards and a pedal boat to use. Secluded in nature, yet only seven minutes from a grocery store and quaint restaurants, this beautiful retreat offers a chance to decompress and relax in a natural setting.

There's a stellar 16' x 16' gazebo with beautiful furniture, a light and ceiling fan, screen and solid panel zipper sides, and a little dock that extends over the pond. Sit and watch the lighted fountain, talk with friends or family, watch the fish and turtles, and breathe in peace and serenity.

There are two other rentals on the property, and care has been taken to provide privacy fences and enough space for everyone to enjoy. I'm making a listing to rent out the entire space, including the barndo that sleeps two, a small cabin that sleeps up to four in two queen beds, and a large, lovely camper that has a queen bed and a pull out full bed. There's also a 50 amp service and water for an additional camper. Rent it all and gather the whole family or a bunch of friends for a vacation, wedding, reunion or small retreat.

Flealess, non-chewing, outdoor-trained, friendly dogs are welcome on the property as long as they get along with other dogs, as other guests could potentially also bring a dog.

About the host

Host profile image
I am originally from northern Pennsylvania and lived in Myrtle Beach for seven years before purchasing my property. I enjoy live music and dancing at the beach, but I really enjoy being in nature and working on creating a beautiful retreat for others to enjoy.

The property was nothing but swampy woods when I found it, and it has been amazing watching it transform. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s very rewarding when I see my guest’s faces as they take it all in.

Why they chose this property

When I started looking for land, I was looking for something that was relatively close to the beach, but was also very wooded and private. My 46 acres is off two main roadways, so it is very convenient to get to and it is quite close to the coast and other tourism areas, so it is the best of both worlds.

It is also not far from stores and restaurants so it’s like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but you’re not. There is safety inconvenience in this location, and guests love it.

What makes this property unique

This property isn’t just a room to sleep in, it’s a mini campground in the woods with loads of opportunities to connect with your loved ones, yourself, and with nature.

When you vacation in Jewel’s Woods, you’re not just renting a bed, you’re renting 46 acres on which you can hike, bike, ATV ride, and you can even bring horses if you’d like.

You’re also renting a 1 acre pond that has paddle boards and a pedal boat and on which you can fish or sit on the dock and watch the turtles, birds and fish that inhabit the beautiful space. You are renting a variety of lawn games, fire pits, nights under the stars away from the hustle and bustle of life. You get an opportunity to see wildlife, to breathe, to put your feet in the grass and feel the sun on your face. Most importantly, Jewels Woods is a place to put down your phone and spend time with loved ones, nurturing those relationships and reconnecting in nature, away from crowds and noise.
