We were in town for a music festival and had a nice stay here. The house had the basic comforts of home and was pretty clean. The middle bedroom bed was comfortable. We walked from Botanic Gardens at night and felt safe in this area. I would stay here again when in town.
Place was clean and comfortable. Close to the highland strip, so good places to eat close by. Great communication with host. Would definitely recommend!
1st, previous reviewers pointed a few things out like the pans or trains. Yes, could use a new set of pans and the trains do come thru across the street, but the noise from the trains is very minimal, in fact after the first day, we didn't even notice. The house is pretty well insulated to outdoor noise. This place was perfect for a location, easy to access and plenty of room for all. We had our lab with us and he loved the space in the backyard area. Would I stay again, Yes. Do I recommend, Yes
The house was super clean inside. And I loved that it was an older house, it reminded me of grandma's house. Really enjoyed the stay. The yard needs attention, especially the shrubs I would stay here again if I'm in that area again.
It was nice and accommodating. There were empty beer cans left in the grill, but I don’t hold that against the host. Unfortunately some people suck and previous guest thought it would be funny to leave empty beers on the grill under the lid. I threw them away for fear the host may think it was us. It sometimes took a couple of hours to get a response from the host, but overall it was a good stay and I would stay there again.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication
I sent a message to the host about the wifi network not showing up. Two hours later I sent another message about the same issue and as of today I still have not heard from the host. My children were trying to study for exams and we had to use our hotspot.I figured out the WiFi issue out eventually. Someone had unplugged the router. I reached out to the host with a question about the thermostat and never heard back.I liked the house except for the attic door not fully closing. I had to put a box at the bottom for it to stay closed. Had the communication been better I would consider staying again, but I will not book again, nor would I recommend to anyone else.
Several things about this house concerned us. The entrance to the attic was not fully secured/deadbolted, the door did not fully close. Instead it is closed by a hook that can easily be opened. The vents covers are full of dust. The shower head in the back bedroom was not well thought out, the shower is so small that it is hard for water to stay inside the shower. The pans were not usable, thank god we were moving my son into his dorm and had a fresh set to cook with. There was no cutting board. The dining room table was broken on one corner. A little curb appeal outside would go a long way. The train runs frequently on the weekday and is directly across the street. If you are a light sleeper I would advise you to stay elsewhere. The location is great for getting to the university of Memphis. I will be traveling to the school quite frequently, but will never stay here again.
Our stay was great, but there were a couple of things that could have been improved. For instance, the hot water in the main bathroom would go in and out. In order for hot water to come from the sink, we had to turn the shower on first. There could have been curtains in the kitchen for better privacy, and having the door code for the side of the house would have been very convenient instead of having to walk all the way around to the front. Other than that, the stay was great.
Pros: beds are comfortable..clean linens. Central AC. Couch comfortable. Galley kitchen. Dining room. Dog yard is great & secure. Cons: no mention of a railroad crossing directly across the front street. Frequently used. So if you are a light sleeper….just saying. Floors could’ve been cleaner to start…I like to walk bare foot….thats how I know . Could use a good deep vacuuming…window sills…carpets…windows in kitchen are dirty. Coffee maker filter needs changed. Kitchen gadgets…you need an egg//hamburger flipper! Frying pan has burnt on grease top n sides, that makes all your food stick. It won’t chip off. Needs replaced. Other fry pan has big scratches missing of teflon. Needs replaced. Someone who rented from you in August also mentioned this same thing in the reviews. Grill rack has caked on rust. Couldn’t do burgers outside. When filling out your contact to rent; there is a mandatory protection policy you MUST sign up for: 59 or upfront 1500 deposit. With a statement that says, no guarantee that you will get all your deposit back. And you cannot finalize your payment to rent until you choose one of these options. We never had to do this w any other rentals…Couldn’t get local channels on tv…but got others. The add on’s w fees, taxes, & PROTECTION COVERAGE plus daily fees added up to 800 for four nights. .i think all this should be previewed up front before choosing. Maybe that’s a rental company policy? Still SB upfront.
