The location was perfect, right downtown and close to everything. Carlos was a great host, and I could not have asked for a better stay.

Wonderful home close to Ferndale
What a wonderful home! Clean and accommodating for our family, including two younger boys. They loved the yard! We have family in the area and have stayed in Ferndale, Loleta, and Eureka many times and this is by far the best place we have ever stayed. Walking distance to downtown Ferndale and a public park for our kids. We will be staying here every time we are in the area from now on. Thank you, Carlos, for letting us use your home, we had so much fun on our trip!

Quaint home and beautiful Ferndale
We really enjoyed our stay in this darling home. It is in a picturesque setting next to the creek we enjoyed a fire in the fire pit outside with plenty of available wood. The husband and wife hosts of this home are attentive and even sent us home with a bag of apples from their trees We would come and stay Here again as we enjoy visiting Ferndale. Make sure you venture out to Fortuna and go to the Double D if you like Italian style meat, centric dining.

About the host

Hosted by Marilyn Benemann

Host profile image
We, Carlos and Marilyn Benemann, by mistake took the right turn off Highway 101 across Fernbridge 36 years ago, and have been in love with Ferndale ever since. We own a two-story Craftsman house, built in 1912, right across the yard from your Francis Street Home. We owned antiquarian bookstores in Ferndale and Eureka for 25 years, until Marilyn retired. Carlos continues his career as a California court certified Spanish and German interpreter. We love talking with our guests about books, foreign travel, horses and the good life in Humboldt County. Francis Street Home was built as a retirement dream home for Carlos’ parents. We now want to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

WELCOME ! To a quiet, comfortable, redwood Craftsman style home, on a landscaped half acre. Bordered by Francis Creek, just a block from the city park and downtown stores and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

As you cross Fernbridge from Hwy 101 and drive through the bucolic scenery,
feel the stress from your daily hustle slip away. Drive past the beautifully preserved Victorian buildings on both side of Main Street, Ferndale, which becomes Francis Street after Ocean Street.1 and 1/2 blocks to a long driveway on the left. Turn up the driveway at 176 Francis Street. You have arrived.
Francis Street Home is your home away from home and downtown and the restaurants on Main Street are only a block away.
