The Space:
The Blankenburg House is a captivating turn-of-the-century Arts and Crafts cottage, originally built in 1910 as the summer residence of former Philadelphia Mayor Rudolph Blankenburg.
Rich in history and designed by noted architect Wesley Lesher Blithe (1873–1946), the home showcases beautiful stonework, a vaulted central living space with 25’ ceilings and original wood detailing + unique artistic touches throughout the home.
The spacious and light-filled living room features a massive stone fireplace and built-in banquettes nestled beneath banks of windows—perfect for curling up with a book, enjoying conversation, or sipping your morning coffee. This inviting space flows seamlessly into the dining room, where large windows overlook the garden, and then into a fully equipped kitchen complete with a breakfast island.
The master bedroom features a queen bed, the first guest bedroom has another queen bed and the second guest bedroom has a double bed. The home offers two bathrooms: one with a walk-in shower and separate soaking tub, and another with a walk-in shower.
A cozy den doubles as a game room, offering a foosball table, a miniature Atari arcade, and a PS4 with a flat-screen TV—ideal for friendly competitions.
Step outside to enjoy the expansive wraparound covered porch, outfitted with generous seating and dining areas that invite relaxation in every season. As the sun sets, gather around the outdoor fire pit for stargazing, storytelling, or simply unwinding with a glass of wine. Whether you're drawn by the rustic charm or the historical legacy, The Blankenburg House is a unique and memorable retreat.

The Blankenburg House is just 2 hours from New York City. A car is essential for getting there and exploring the area. The main access routes are the I-80 E and I-78 E. We strongly recommend a 4x4 or a car with four-wheel drive, especially in winter, to handle snow and gravel roads.
