About this property
Hannah's Hideaway: 3 Bedroom Rural Cabin
Hannah’s Hideaway is a cozy one-story, three-bedroom cabin with stairs to the front door. Inside, you’ll find two queen beds, one king, a three-seat sofa, and a small chair. The full kitchen comes equipped with a microwave and all basic cooking essentials. The cabin also has one bathroom, along with hot water, electricity, and internet. A small charcoal grill is available for experienced users, and a firepit can be used in accordance with burn bans.
The cabin sits on our off-grid 320-acre homestead in rural Kenny Lake, surrounded by forests, fields, and open skies. Wrangell Mountain Homestead was first built in the 1970s by four generations using timber milled right on the land. After sitting empty for more than a decade, our family is carefully restoring it. Some areas may appear worn, rustic, or unfinished because this is an active project, not a polished resort. Staying here offers a genuine Alaskan homestead experience, where guests can feel part of its ongoing story.
We are located in a truly remote area. The nearest towns are a drive away - 30 minutes to Chitina, an hour to Glennallen, 1 hour 45 minutes to Valdez, and 2.5 hours to Kennicott. Just up the road is a small diner and grocery store, but beyond that, it’s pure nature. Days can be spent hiking, exploring trails, watching wildlife, fishing, or simply soaking in the quiet beauty of the land. At night, the skies open wide, perfect for stargazing in a truly untouched landscape.
This is an active working property. Farm work and heavy equipment operate from early morning into the evening, and occasional sounds of work are part of the experience. Guests are encouraged to bring any tools they might need for larger or more elaborate meals, as only basic cooking essentials are provided.
Guests have full access to their cabin while other areas of the homestead may be under repair or look less finished. Please respect private areas, locked rooms, and buildings unless invited. Self-check-in makes arrival simple, and we are always nearby if assistance is needed.
The homestead is home to over 40 chickens and four turkeys, including two large toms who roam freely. They are not aggressive but enjoy showing off. Please do not chase, hold, pet, or physically interact with the animals, and feel free to take photos or videos from a safe distance. Chicks may be moving near their mothers; for your safety and to avoid fines, do not approach or touch them.
Hannah’s Hideaway is perfect for guests who value independence, quiet, and a true Alaskan experience; remote, unplugged, and rich with history, natural beauty, and the rhythm of life on a working homestead.
