About this property

The Viking House - One of Poulsbo’s Few Remaining Original Homes—Steps from Downtown!

Welcome to Viking House, an original 1890 Norwegian farmhouse nestled right on Front Street in Historic Downtown Poulsbo—affectionately known as "Little Norway." This charming, lovingly renovated home invites you to step back in time while enjoying modern comforts and the perfect location for exploring one of Washington’s most picturesque waterfront towns.

From Viking House, you’re just steps away from the vibrant heart of downtown Poulsbo. Stroll to quaint boutiques, cozy bookshops, wine bars, and waterfront restaurants, or grab fresh baked treats at the town’s famous Sluys Bakery. The Poulsbo Marina, Liberty Bay Waterfront Park, and American Legion Park walking trail are also just a stone’s throw away. Whether you’re in town for a wedding, family gathering, or a weekend getaway, this location makes it effortless to experience all Poulsbo has to offer. Plus, with easy access to ferries, you can venture out and take a scenic day trip to Seattle!

Viking House is one of Poulsbo’s few remaining original homes, built in 1890 by early Norwegian settlers. Today, it has been lovingly restored to blend historic character with modern comforts. From the wide front porch—perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine while watching the sunset over the Olympic Mountains—to the cheerful Scandinavian-inspired décor, this home is filled with warmth, charm, and personality. Viking House offers a truly unique stay in the heart of Poulsbo’s historic downtown, just steps from the shops, wine bars, and waterfront restaurants. Enjoy morning strolls to the Poulsbo Marina, coffee at Sluys Bakery, afternoons spent browsing boutiques and bookshops, or dining at one of the many waterfront patios—all without having to drive.

Inside, the home comfortably accommodates 8+ guests across four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The main-floor primary suite features a king bed and en-suite bath, making it ideal for those who prefer to avoid stairs. Upstairs, you’ll find another full bathroom, beautiful king bedroom, a second bedroom with two double beds, and a third bedroom with two twin beds, providing comfortable sleeping arrangements for up to six guests upstairs. The 1890 staircase is part of the home’s original characteristic, it’s not unusually steep but does have a unique turn at the top with a low ceiling corner that might surprise taller guests. We also recommend extra caution with toddlers and note that we’re not ideal for guests under 2 years old.

The home’s open-concept kitchen, complete with an island and all the essentials, flows into a cozy dining room that seats eight—perfect for gathering, connecting, and sharing meals. Guests can unwind in the living area on a large sectional sofa in front of the 75" smart TV, while younger visitors will love the kids’ play space upstairs that is stocked with games, their own TV and two fun beanbag chairs.

Outside, the front porch rockers, backyard BBQ, picnic table, and corn hole set offer plenty of ways to enjoy the fresh air. And unlike many vintage homes, Viking House is fully air-conditioned, making it a comfortable retreat year-round.

Whether you’re visiting for a wedding, family reunion, creative retreat, or small group getaway, Viking House provides a truly unforgettable home base right in the middle of Poulsbo’s historic district. Come experience Poulsbo like a local—from the comfort of one of its most cherished historic homes. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch while watching for bald eagles, browsing the charming boutiques, savoring a glass of wine downtown, or strolling along the waterfront, Viking House puts you in the perfect location to enjoy all that “Little Norway” has to offer.

We can’t wait to welcome you!
