About this property

Village Accomodations - Two Bedroom Cottage with a Queen and Two Doubles

This cottage is part of our Village Accommodations, which is approximately 1 mile from the beach. We have approximately 20 units in this location that offer more privacy than the oceanside units. We have parking at our oceanside property for beach access as well as the use of our salt water pool. We also have a coin operated washer and dryer on the back of our office if you need to do any laundry during your stay.
This cottage known as the "White House" is a 2 bedroom 1 Bathroom cottage located in the village of Buxton. This cottage was moved from across the street and was once the United States Post Office for Buxton, when my grandmother was the Postmaster. It is situated on a creek and is heavily wooded with large trees for additional privacy. There is a large screened Porch in the front with chairs to enjoy the evenings.

The house was not a 1 min walk to the beach as stated on the listing. The “beach access” by the office looked like a hazard with all the construction debris everywhere. The pool was warm but had a green hint to it. The house was nasty and not at all what it looked liked on the listing. The floor made socks and feet black, there were ants, the house itself is not comfortable for anyone taller than 6’ or for anyone that doesn’t have a narrow body shape. As an average sized person I barely fit through the bathroom door. There is barely any water pressure in the shower and both sinks and the bathroom sink did not have hot water. The dishes were dirty when we arrived and the mattress toppers were also dirty. There are not many cooking utensils or pots and pans but for some reason there were 4 pie pans. There was only one baking sheet but it didn’t even fit in the oven. The stove and oven is only about half the size of a standard stove and oven. The Roku remote also didn’t work and there were no paper towels or extra trash bags. I would not recommend especially for the price which was too high in my opinion for what we got.

The listing clearly states that the cottage is 1 mile from the beach, not a 1 minute walk. If you wanted to be near the beach, then we have plenty of listings on VRBO that are oceanside or oceanfront, but they are more expensive. We do not provide paper towels nor is it included in the listing. We have extra trash bags at our office. To my knowledge, you never complained about having no hot water or it would have been addressed immediately. It just doesn't make sense why you had hot water everywhere except for the bathroom sink as it runs from the same water heater? This house is not nasty!

Super clean. Conveniently close to shops. Disappointed to learn the washer and dryer were down the road at the office not in our actually building.
