About this property

Away from city lights, nestled in the Foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains

Away from the city lights, yet just a few miles from downtown Grass Valley and Downtown Nevada City is the Bear Den BnB. We are nestled in a wooded three acre parcel. Our BnB is right in the heart of the Gold Country with many Historic places to visit. Snow skiing resorts are just an hour away. There are many lakes where you can enjoy water sports and hiking. You will find a book in your room that has listed many hiking trails complete with trailhead, mileage elevation and points of interest. If you are into wine tasting there are lots of wineries to explore.
The room is decorated in Black Bear upscale décor with private entrance. You will enjoy a private bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, free Wi-Fi, internet TV, coffee, tea, hot coco or cappuccino in the room. The room has a new queen sized bed, vanity with bench, rocker recliner, full length mirror, ceiling fan, heating /air conditioning and private access to our sunroom with pool table.
Also to anyone who has cell phones, pads/tablets and PCs, are you always searching for an outlet to plug your devices into for charging. The three end tables in the Bear Den each have a charging station with two 110 volt outlets and two USB ports. That provides you with a total of six 110 volt outlets and six USB ports! No scrounging around on your knees looking for a place to plug into— it’s all right there and easily accessible.
Outside amenities included are: Bar-B-Q with burner, sink, fireplace, eating area, Koi pond and hot tub. Also included in your stay is a Continental Breakfast with a variety of foods to choose from. Breakfast will be served at the time that you request (between 7 & 9 AM).
Safety is very important to us, so to ensure your safety while you’re here, there is a Carbon Monoxide alarm, smoke detector, fire extinguisher, emergency light and first aid kit all located in the room. We are also sticklers for cleanliness! Fresh sheets and towels are provided for each new guest. Additional linens are always available on request.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, we are glad to decorate or arrange anything you might need. Should you have a desire to have a massage while you're at the Bear Den, we can offer you a discount when you book with Aloha Healing Touch Massage.
If you're a couple who wants to get away for some private time, we're the right pace. Many of our guests will eat their breakfast by the Koi pond, take long hot tubs and sit in front of the outside fireplace for hours sipping on their favorite beverage.
I truly enjoy the holidays. We celebrate something special every month. There will be decorations and special little surprises in your room. We also provide breakfast between 7 and 9 am.

We are sorry, but due to host allergies, we are exercising VRBO's exemption and can not accept service animals.

All that’s left is to make your reservation! We’re waiting to be the best host possible!

A lovely weekend getaway
My fiancé and I had an incredible stay at the Bear Den. We enjoyed the property including the hot tub. The hosts were extremely thoughtful by having a fire set up for us to use, a celebration banner and even a box of chocolates for my fiancé who we were celebrating. We would definitely recommend a stay here. Can’t wait to come again!

A cozy hideaway
My friend and I had a lovely stay here for a small birthday celebration. They added some personal touches with a happy birthday sign and made breakfast in the morning. The owners were so nice and helpful with every request we had. This location is close to amazing food and shopping in Nevada City, as well as hiking and other adventures. Will definitely be coming back in the future.

Lovely setting, awesome hosts!
We had an amazing time. This lovely wooded setting was so relaxing and beautiful. We had several soaks in the very nice hot tub. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area with a waterfall and Koi pond. We slept well— the bed was so comfortable! The hosts gave us complete privacy but were reachable when we needed anything. We look forward to revisiting this location in the future. The property itself is laid out to be very tranquil. The hosts, Ken and Julie are fabulous people and made the stay even more enjoyable. My biggest decision was which part of the yard did I want to settle into. I chose a different part each time and I will be back. Amazing location and hosts.

My husband and I are both retired. We have several hobbies that keep us quite busy. We are avid Scuba Divers, we own our own airplane and use it frequently, we belong to the local Kayaking club and we spend as much time as possible with our two grandchildren. I'm a native Californian and my husband moved here from the East Coast 35 years ago.

Why they chose this property

We always wanted some acreage after living in the city our whole lives. Our property is very unique in that we have our airplane hanger on our property. When we want to fly, we simply taxi our plane out of the hanger and take off. Our property is very wooded and has a lovely stream running right through the middle. We built a cottage on the property where my 94 year old mother lives.

What makes this property unique

Guests can sit in front of our Koi pond and have their morning coffee. At night you can unwind from the day in our new hot tub. There is an outside fireplace, a large table and chairs and a BBQ that our guests can indulge in.
