We loved our stay at The Shanty! The house was very nice and had everything you could want. Our favorite things were the fire pit outside, the bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom/shower was very nice and spacious. We would definitely come back!

Cute, nicely decorated older home that had been remodeled. Easy access to town and shops. Quiet neighborhood. Amenities were good with very nice coffee bar. Host was very helpful and accommodating.

Yes thank you All the homes in Hermann are older. This one was built in 1880 as it states in our listing, and it is solid as a rock! It was a pleasure to bring a fresh look to what had been well cared for for over a century Thank you for choosing The Shanty on 5th.

The Shanty was a perfect home away from home for our visit to Hermann. Great location, cozy yet spacious, super clean, and had everything we needed (including a blow dryer with diffuser which is a must for wavy/curly girls!). We loved it so much we’re hoping to come back again in the fall!

10 Stars! The Shanty is exactly how described and better! Before we even arrived communication with host was great. She offered lots of details about things to do in Hermann and answered all our questions. You can’t help but smile as soon as you walk in The Shanty! Vibrant colors yet cozy & relaxing atmosphere. CLEAN! The furniture is comfortable and the bed is VERY comfortable! We felt right at home with well stocked kitchen and the cast iron skillet option was a plus. We took advantage of coffee on the patio and there’s a fire pit available for cooler temperatures. All very CLEAN! The Shanty is only a couple of blocks from “downtown” area. We walked everywhere in town! Our morning walks were in the park and through neighborhoods. We’ve already shared The Shanty with several friends and we will return! Directly behind The Shanty is The Shed and it is as adorable! This is a perfect place for a couples getaway or girls trip. We searched several VRBOs when making plans for our trip. We are SO thankful we chose The Shanty!

The Shanty was very clean and well maintained. Host responded quickly with any questions we had. The location was central to everything and we walked everywhere. This has nothing to do with the host but if you want to shop and eat in town, many places were closed early in the week. We still enjoyed our trip.

We are frequent visitors to Hermann and this location did not disappoint. The decor was so cute and inviting, the kitchen was fully stocked with all you will need. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best for enjoying the outside area but it’s perfect for a couple or a group. You can get to downtown Hermann in just a short walk. Next time we will try to rent the property behind the house and invite some friends. Becky was very friendly and quick to respond with any questions we had.

Darling Cottage!

The Shanty is beautifully decorated, convenient, and had all the amenities we needed for wonderful stay in Hermann. We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the place. One of the cleanest rentals we have ever stayed in!

Great Location

We had a great time and would stay again. Everything was comfortable and cute. One suggestion, the curtains in the bathroom are gray sheer, and surely see thru at night, maybe not the best for a shower area? Otherwise will stay again and highly recommend.

Hi thanks. We take all suggestions into consideration. There is lots of privacy in the bath, and there are full trees outside the window. We strive to constantly improve. The window is in the sink area, not the shower, just to be clear to future guests. Tabatha we would be happy to have you again.

Perfect Girls’ Getaway

It spoke to me. I had been seeking a guest home in another area, on another 5th St, that looked almost the same...and it just wasn't working out...then, one morning....there was The Shanty! Now, I am in love with the town and the people!
