About this property

House in the Country on a farm charm, peace, wildlife & tranquility

This charming cottage in Edmonton offers a tremendous stay for guests with 2 cozy bedrooms featuring 4 full beds. The bathroom includes a cast iron bathtub and shower. The living room provides additional space with 2 sofas and a leather recliner for extra comfort. One sofa is a fold out full-size bed Whether you're unwinding after a day of exploring , hunting or getting ready for a night out, this excellent property has everything you need. We hope you enjoy what our place and Mammoth Cave area has to offer. This precious country house has oak original floors and Hand hewn shiplap walls throughout! The kitchen has all the amenities for incredible meals- a double KitchenAid oven set with warmer drawer a cooktop KitchenAid with three units six eyes, full-size refrigerator, full-size sink open shelving all around the walls. The shelves are made of oak that came out of the barns on the farm, which were built in the 1920s.
Split unit heat and air units on the main floor and upstairs. High speed Internet.
The house has porches wrapping around three sides with two swings. Two eating areas with eight chairs, and then of course, porch rockers all around
The living room has a 55 inch TV mounted on the wall with a large leather sofa and a leather recliner. There is another sleeper sofa that pulls out into a full size bed. There is also a record player with actual vintage records. Please only adults manipulate the record player. Children are not allowed to touch it.
The bathroom has a gorgeous cast-iron, clawfoot tub, pedestal sink, commode, and corner shower
The main bedroom on the first floor has two full-size beds, a large window with a beautiful view and a tiger oak dresser
The upstairs was an attic we converted into a bedroom. It has two full-size beds one on each end of the room. The ceiling at its tallest height is 5 feet.
Beautiful mature trees everywhere -there is a 400+ year old white oak in the backyard. That is absolutely gorgeous. You don’t see trees like that anymore. gorgeous views of the country, pastureland trees, creeks, and rivers are all around the house. This is a recent review from a wonderful Knoxville TN guest; “If you are a city person with some country roots, this place will do something for your soul, it certainly did for mine.
My stay at this unique farmhouse was the most restful, peaceful, nostalgic time I've had in a long while.
The views from every window were breathtaking alone.
What a perfect country setting with barns, huge open fields, backed against a deep woods next to a monster walnut tree. As for the house, it has been newly renovated after 50 years of sitting vacant, with the intention of keeping as much originality as possible in the home while also providing all the modern comforts we would desire, and Kelly did not disappoint.
That's right, one truly remarkable lady did all the hard work, including clearing the perimeter with a chainsaw!
She kept the original hardwood floors the walls, and the tin roof, enough to
take you back in time. The large bathroom has a beautiful claw foot bathtub and walk in shower. The bedroom has two very comfortable beds with ornate wooden headboards. The living room has a large screen TV, cozy furniture, a stereo, and of course WiFi. The kitchen has an old fashioned sink like my grandmother used to have, a full size refrigerator, two ovens, a microwave, coffeemaker, and every dishware and cookware you might need. Outside you have three porches, complete with tables, chairs, grills, lots of space to move around or just sit and soak in the landscape.
The decor throughout the house includes objects found on the farm, collectibles and antiques, as well as much reading material that points to a time all but forgotten.
Another pleasant surprise was a steep stairway leading to the low ceiling upstairs which has two cute full beds next to very stylish windows, surrounded by fresh cedar, kids would adore this charming hideaway!
And, if it happens to rain, you will experience the most soothing sound known to mankind, rain on a tin roof.
Rain will not ruin this vacation, it will seal the deal! Ican't say enough about my stay here. It was a reminder to me of the intense beauty of the simple, the therapeutic effect of quiet solitude, and the absolute priceless value of the country life. I will stay here again!”
