About this property
Reverie Ranch @ Gold Mountain 136 Acre w/ Lakeview & Nat'l Forest Access, Remote
Welcome to R&R under the mountain, our ancestral lands where three distinct ecosystems converge into a balance of rest, relaxation, and simultaneous thrill
Originally a native Indian range and seasonal home to the Washoe, Paiute and Maidu tribes, R&R sits at the crossroads of The Sierra Nevada mountain range, The Great Basin, and The Cascades
Today, we rest the land from years of grazing and human activity, allowing wildlife and nature to reinforce its grip
You’ll enjoy a rare chance to truly “check out” with our non-existent neighbors while being surrounded by untouched, primitive public lands on three boundaries. So in addition to our private 136 acres you will have access to 120 acres of otherwise inaccessible BLM land and some of the most pristine tracks within Plumas National Forest’s 1,146,000 acres that begin just behind the house - bring your hiking boots ; )
Due to its unique perch, we and the diverse flora and fauna, benefit from being in a transitional zone that includes easy-to-traverse sagebrush steppe, moderate to difficult mountain foothills with woodland forest filled with oak and pine, and well-earned views of big sky, lake valley, and grasslands
We are lucky to have a Mediterranean climate composed of warm, sunny weather for most of the year with manageably snowy and cool winters
The home sits at ~4,300 ft (~1,300 m) and our mountain rises behind it @ ~7,300 ft (~2,200 m)
There are seasonal creeks that cascade down from the mountain peaks overhead during snowmelt season and feed the visible Honey Lake, down on the valley floor
With lots of water and an abundance of sunshine, we are a rich bed for plant and wildlife that includes some very unique species, feel free to enquire within for details
During Manifest Destiny and westward expansion times, the property changed hands as cattle grazing grounds up through the early 2000’s, when its first and only ranch house was built by William Kiar in 2006. Kiar Ranch ran about ten head of cattle until 2023 when we took over as the custodians of the land
The surrounding lands are considered open range lands, allowing cattle and other domestic animals to range freely throughout the hills and valleys
Our goal as custodians, is to transition the land on the ranch back to its ancestral beginnings while retaining the comforts, conveniences, and charm we’ve worked tirelessly to improve upon
Other things to note:
Please be honest about your group size, number of vehicles, your vehicle's capability, you and your groups outdoorsman's capabilities, we verify these things in a number of ways.
Cell service is decent for how rural we are, Verizon is best.
Arriving before sundown is ideal for both you and us.
4WD and AWD vehicles are required in very wet weather year-round and in winter, anytime
