About this property
Summer Kitchen Cottage near charming Charlottesville
The recently renovated cottage, while located in the heart of the Blue Ridge with pastoral views, is also close to Charlottesville. Guests can enjoy a comfortable king-sized primary bedroom with private porch dining, an outdoor shower, and Adirondack chairs for drinks by the fire pit. The location is rural with Charlottesville's best wedding venues and wineries only 10 minutes away and with the downtown mall only 13 miles away.
This cottage is the perfect retreat for guests seeking a charming and comfortable stay. The adorable property features heating, AC, and a hair dryer for your convenience. Nestled in a serene setting, this amazing cottage offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The Summer Kitchen Cottage is located on an 1820 farmstead. It is one of several buildings on the farm. Situated just beyond a two-story log home of the same era, you will enjoy its original floors and stone fireplace. The old ice house and pole barn are also nearby.
The Cottage also includes many updates: a tiny kitchenette, a luxurious clawfoot tub in the en suite, a deck that includes a bistro table and chairs to enjoy your morning coffee, and an outdoor shower just outside.
We are happy to share our 'biggest little farm" with our guests. We welcome you to bring a picnic or a bottle of wine to the Adirondack chairs around our fire pit and marvel at one of our stunning sunsets or starry nights.
If you want to visit with the farm animals, let us know and we would love to let out the chickens or goats for endless hours of laughs and cuddles, even.
Summer Kitchen Cottage is situated on a dirt road, and you are welcome to stretch your legs on a six-mile walk. This area offers plenty to do and plenty of places to do nothing.
We hope you enjoy our family’s micro-farm as much as we do.
Contactless self-check-in instructions are given via email prior to arrival. Your privacy is our priority. But if you need anything, let us know! We look forward to welcoming you to our place.
Our property is located on the longest road in Albemarle County, along an extended stretch of gravel approximately 8 miles long. This is a favorite training route for runners in the area, including most high school cross-country, UVA, and other teams. The road has gentle grades, fantastic views of the Blue Ridge, and very little traffic.
Cycling in the area is also very popular - for road, gravel, and mountain bikers. Road and gravel cyclists can head West toward the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, or South toward Ennis Mountain, Wintergreen, and the Rockfish Valley. There is also excellent mountain biking on Jarman's Gap Road, Sherando Lake, and the Harrisonburg area. In Charlottesville, two good bike shops are Blue Ridge Cyclery and Blue Wheel Bicycles.
