About this property

You’ll love our large and spacious guest room, the Primary Bedroom Suite of our vintage cottage bungalow, with great amenities like high ceilings, large bathtub, and within walking distance to Alamo Drafthouse and Zilker Park. (Note: It is attached to our home, but completely separate with its own private entrance. You do not have access to our home.)

A Sleep Number king-size bed with luxury Peacock Alley linens and a cozy window seat nearby make this large guest room so inviting. All sleeping pillows and duvet are hypo-allergenic. There are two antique bureaus with several drawers for your clothing, as well as one closet. A small kitchenette features a large shelving unit with mini-fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. We provide a few continental breakfast items.

NOTE: There is no TV, but there is WiFi.

Washer and dryer and skylight are in the bathroom. With central air and a ceiling fan over the bed, the room temp is very comfortable. The space is bathed in lots of natural light and a private patio for your enjoyment. Public access at the South Gate of Barton Springs Pool is right down the hill. Open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, except Thursdays.

Restaurants, live music, coffee, bakeries, and shopping, are all within a short walk. Everything is at your fingertips as we live in the best zip code in Austin and right up the hill from hundreds of acres of green space, Barton Springs, Lady Bird Lake, Zilker Botanical Garden and hiking trails. Not to mention Restaurant Row!

Come enjoy Austin's festivals, outdoor activities, and more, and stay awhile to experience all there is to love about Austin.

Great hosts & great location!

Our hosts, Deborah & Dave, live in an adjacent building to our private cottage, and they were unbelievably gracious and accommodating! Deborah met us in person, despite our late arrival at 11pm, and gave us a quick overview of the cottage. They move their vehicle so that their guests have use of the parking space, and they stock the cottage with yummy breakfast items like coffee, fruit, yogurt, bread and pb & jelly! The cottage is tastefully decorated, and the bedding is so comfortable. Being a New Englander who has been stuck inside for several months, I especially loved the outdoor patio; my partner and I enjoyed cocktails and conversation outdoors each evening and had some cool wildlife encounters with skunks (no smelly contact) and possums. It's a very peaceful and private space, but only a five minute drive from downtown Austin to get to music venues, and it's a short walk to Zilker Park and some local breweries (recommend the Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company, within walking distance!) D&D, thank you for sharing your space - very special! We will be back!

Perfect get away

The property is the perfect location for experiencing everything Austin has to offer, great food, relaxing walks, and amazing outdoor activity. Safe and convenient neighborhood with parking. David and Deborah are hospitable, kind, creative and attentive to every need. We love every part of the property and the hosts.

Highly recommend!

Our stay couldn’t have been better. David and Deborah were such great hosts- so friendly and welcoming! They made sure that everything was perfect for our stay. The bed was so comfortable, and we really appreciated the snacks/juice/water available in the suite. All around great experience and we highly recommend!

My husband and I are long-time residents of Austin, Texas. Come stay at The Collier Guest Suite and see all there is to enjoy in Austin right in our neighborhood. We're perfectly situated right above Zilker Park to enjoy all outdoor activities and walk to Barton Springs Pool, theatres, restaurants, and more. I'm a luxury pillow designer and blogger by day and my husband David Latimer is a teacher and writer. We're both creatives and live to travel. We love the outdoors and going to Austin's restaurants, hearing live music any day of the week, and seeing movies at The Alamo Drafthouse. This has been our home for almost 34 years. We take great pride in keeping the vintage feel of a 1950s cottage bungalow. Our guests enjoy the privacy of the Guest Suite and patio. And they especially love our location convenient to everything to love about Austin.

What makes this property unique

It's an awesome location that can't be beaten! You have your own private entrance and can walk or cycle to Zilker Park, Lady Bird Lake, Butler Park, and Hike and Bike Trail. Restaurant row is down the hill, and Alamo Drafthouse movie theatre is nearby, as well as great outdoor patios and bars. Near the action, but in a quiet residential, safe neighborhood. Our patio is South Austin funky and a great place to relax.
