About this property

You found the most romantic cottage on the Hammock Coast.

Historic and luxurious, this golf and ocean getaway for couples is back on the market after an absence, Make this charming and historic two-bedroom guest cottage your base for exploring Pawleys Island and Georgetown County. Located on the corner of a private estate within minutes of beautiful beaches, premier golf courses, shopping, and dining (from fine to funky), this cottage is perfect for a couples’ getaway.

~ 24-hour check-in, no-contact
~ Direct access (across the street) to the 10-mile bike path which goes to the ocean in one direction or to Huntington Beach State Park and the fishing village of Murrells inlet in the other.
~ 10 golf courses within ten minutes, some of them ranked and award-winning. Many more within a slightly longer drive.
~ Library of over 300 books
~ Will stock the fridge in advance, if you wish
~ Bedside USB connections
~ Luxury mattresses and luxury sheets, with beds made prior to arrival
~ Curated guide to local restaurants and grocery stores
~ Visitors enjoy the "HGTV-worthy" kitchen and the "book describing art and furnishings" (quotes are from guest comments).

The splendid Waccamaw Neck Bikeway runs right by the cottage—10 miles of dedicated bike path running from Murrells Inlet to Pawleys Island (bike rentals are readily available). Within a few minutes' drive, you can spend an afternoon exploring the pre-Revolutionary seaport town of Georgetown (to the south) or an evening strolling the restaurants, bars, and live music along Murrells Inlet’s Marshwalk (to the north). Easy day trips include the theaters and attractions of Myrtle Beach or the cobblestone streets of Charleston, known as the “holy city” and crown jewel of Lowcountry South Carolina.

The picturesque cottage is surrounded by live oaks, magnolias, azaleas, and camellias. Old heart pine floors, Persian carpets, and original shiplap walls create a cozy ambiance. The completely renovated kitchen and bathrooms sparkle with pristine modern fixtures and marble. The immaculate kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, flatware, pots, coffee maker, blender, and toaster. Two bedrooms offer a king-sized bed in each, luxury mattresses, and fine linens. One full bath (walk-in shower) and an additional powder room. Cable television, washer/dryer, and wireless internet are provided, and the cottage offers central heat and air.

Our personal concierge service can arrange for bike rentals and a refrigerator stocked to your specifications. Enjoy a vacation that is out of the ordinary in every way—and will be long remembered.

Waverly Cottage comes complete with the expected uneven floors and other “flaws” of a historic home. We like to think that’s part of its charm. However, it is not appropriate for the elderly or anyone with mobility issues.

We strictly prohibit smoking, pets, parties, and children. However, we strongly encourage long walks on the beach, wine on the screened porch, and exploring the beauty and history of the Waccamaw Neck.

Beach: beautiful beach access on Pawleys Island, Litchfield Beach, North Litchfield, or Huntington Beach State Park.

Golf: Caledonia, True Blue, Heritage, Pawleys Plantation, Litchfield Country Club, Willbrook, Tradition, and more--just five minutes away!

Dining: Bistro 217, Frank's, Chive Blossom, Local (Hammock Shops), Quigleys, Gio's, Caffe Piccolo, Landalfi's and more--all within five minutes--or a bike ride.

Activities: Brookgreen Gardens (don't miss it!), historic Georgetown, the Bike Path, deep sea fishing out of Murrells Inlet, the tourism attractions of Myrtle Beach, including the World Famous Carolina Opry show and headline concerts in their venue.

Day Trips: The crown jewel of Charleston is just a little over an hour away, with Fort Sumter, the U.S.S. Yorktown, horse-drawn carriage rides, and history waiting around every corner.

Wonderful 2 weeks

Once again our visit was wonderful. Perfect weather, trees in bloom, and so many things to do. We have electric bikes that encouraged us to ride the trail and to the beach. Streets around house are exceptionally beautiful. Loved our stay!!!

Best experience ever

This cottage feels out of a magazine. As soon as you open the door it has a "wow" factor. Very charming and tastefully decorated. It has two very nice sized and comfortable bedrooms, that is perfect for two couples ( in our case , we were my husband and me ) It was spotlessly clean and smelled wonderful. The owner made us feel welcome with fresh flowers, a bottle of wine and pastries from the local bakery. There are plenty of towels and linens. Good internet service and TV. A fully equipped kitchen if one wishes to cook meals at home instead of going out. The cottage is 5 minutes drive from the beach. We prefered it that way, to be in a more quiet spot . It is surrounded by old oak trees and there is convenient parking inside the property just out the door of the cottage. The check in was very easy and smooth. Cindy, the manager, is super efficient and responded to all our texts and messages in seconds. The communication was great. There are miles of sidewalks just out the door, for walks or bike riding . This was by far the best property we have rented over the years . Thanks to the Gilmores and Cindy for making our stay in Pawleys such a wonderful experience

Charming Cottage

Set in a prime location, Waverly Cottage is full of character and charm. It is beautifully furnished, with a fully-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful touches throughout. What stands out most, is the hospitality and high-level of customer service from both the owner and property manager. Thank you for a great week!

An elegant low country getaway

The 10 days I spent at the Waverly Cottage were some of the most relaxing days I've had in quite some time. Everything was fabulous - from the art & furniture decorating this historic cottage (the owners even wrote up descriptions & stories behind each piece in their collection!) to the live oaks dripping in Spanish moss that surround the property. The beach is just a short drive or a quick bike ride away. Do yourself a favor and book a week (or more!) here ASAP!

Elegant Cottage Delights The Senses

My daughter & son in law & I had our first vacation trip together in Pawleys Island. The Waverley cottage was the perfect spot! We had two great bedrooms, a spacious living room & spotless kitchen to cook in together. There were plenty of reading nooks & rocking chairs to float away in for rest & recuperation from this stressful year. Lovely lovely place!

Most welcoming & comfortable vacation house ever!

Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed our 8 night stay at Waverly Cottage. Everything about this charming little house said welcome and relax-- super comfortable beds, high quality linens, perfect chairs for conversation and reading, fascinating historic info and a most interesting library! The artwork and decor as well as the HGTV-worthy kitchen and bathroom were wonderful. Loved being able to jump on the bike path which is literally across the street; rode all the way to Brookgreen gardens which are absolutely not to be missed ( we ended up going on three different days and still did not see everything!) Location was great; the beach was less than 10 minutes drive, and both Publix and BiLo are about 5 minutes away. Both the owner and property manager were exceptional in their communication. One of our all time favorite vacation spots for sure!

Perfect...Like home

The cottage exceeded my expectations. Beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, and close to everything we love such as golf, biking, walking paths, and close enough to beach. I also loved the book describing where the furniture cam from and the artwork. Will definitely be back.
