Our family LOVES spending time at Layer Cake! We enjoy sharing this experience and the glowing reviews (over 75 now with nothing less than 5-Star since we've begun renting it to guests). make it that much more wonderful to share! We owe much of our positive experience to our wonderful guests, and to the efforts of the fabulous group that meticulously services our cabin (as we reside 2 hours east in Winston-Salem). We LOVE to travel and sail, and also consider home swapping an option. OWNER IS A LICENSED REAL ESTATE BROKER IN THE WINSTON-SALEM, NC AREA.

Once you've been to Layer Cake cabin, you'll understand....
What makes this Cabin unique
I never get enough of being at Layer Cake. I don't know what I like best. Is it: When I open my eyes in the morning, I feel fortunate to awaken in a bed surrounded by views of the woodlands, hearing only the sounds of nature...the breeze flowing through the surrounding tall trees and the birds singing. It's a place to disconnect from everyday stresses, and reconnect with friends, lovers, family...and best of all, yourself. On a star-filled evening, sitting under the stars on the slate patio in front of the slate outdoor fireplace watching a roaring fire, sipping my favorite wine (Penfold's Bin 389) with special people (or even alone)? Waking up early just to walk 5 minutes to the overlook to see the heavenly sunrise? Reclining in the hammock chair on the wrap-around porch either napping or reading a book? Reclining on the new 9-foot down-filled sofa in a beautiful room with a great book while surrounded by windows that look out on the woodlands? Enjoying a wood fire in the indoor double-sided wood fireplace in a comfy club chair and with my ottoman, my mini-tray table attached to the arm of the chair with a hot cup of tea, and a good book, or just great conversation with the one directly across from me in the matching club chair? Then there's the decadence of watching the sun setting from the slate and glass shower.... Listening to rain on the metal roof... or sitting on the covered porch with a hot cup of tea watching it rain.... And that's at the cabin... the walking along tgravel and paved roads, the 5-minute walk to the overlook on Table Rock road, the hike to Sitting Bear, Upper Creek Falls, Table Rock, antiquing in Foscoe, kayaking Price Lake, and one of my all-time favorites - the Orchard at Altapass on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Spruce Pine for live Appalachian music, flat footing, locals, homemade cobbler, warm local folks and tourists. And every time I go back, I found something else to love. I hate to leave and wish I could retire!!!
