The master bedroom entrance is off of the dining room through handmade French doors. There is an heirloom French bedroom suite with a queen bed and two large dressers. Also, in the bedroom is a built-in work station with a flat screen TV. The bedroom has two large windows that allow natural light in the room. There is an en suite bathroom with a vanity and dressing area with built-in barge board cabinets. The bathroom has two pedestal sinks and a six foot soaking bathtub/shower combination.
The sunroom is located at the rear of the house. This is a beautiful sunlit room with barge board shelves and cabinets made from reclaimed wood from the New Orleans area. Absolutely charming home in a wonderful neighborhood! We enjoyed lounging by the pool and the close proximity to the beach. Would definitely stay again!
Our family had a great stay at La Petite Cassette.
The house was roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed the beach that was very easy to get to. We really loved the pool in the back yard and the screened in patio. The host was incredibly helpful with any questions we had.
Our family had a lovely time during our stay in this home. We loved that it was on the National List of Historical Places! Plenty of outside living area including a very nice pool. We enjoyed the closeness to the beach and town and were able to navigate easily with our golf cart. Would recommend this home to anyone desiring to stay in the old Bay St. Louis area.,
Nice stay at this property. Thoughtful owner. Very attentive.

Belinda,
Thank you for your great review. We are so glad you and your family enjoyed your holiday time away from home. We look forward your next visit to Bay St. Louis.
We had a marvelous time staying at this precious creole cottage. Loved the decor, style, furniture, and the beds were actually better than our own home. Everything about it is top notch.
Golf cart was amazing on all our little excursions into town.
You will love this place~ book now or I may beat you to it.
Thanks Mary Ellen for a wonderful vacation.
This was a great house in a great location. This was our first time to this area and we were pleasantly surprised. House was convenient to everything. Beach was family oriented and not crowded. Homeowner was great with communication. Highly recommend!!!
Such an adorable, historic little house in a quiet neighborhood of Bay St Louis. Had everything we needed PLUS a swimming pool (bonus!). Beds were very comfortable furnishings were very beautiful and cozy. Huge front porch with rocking chairs and lots of great amenities available (bicycles, golf carts for rent… and lots of games and books inside too!). Great communication with the owner and responded promptly to all our queries. Just an overall great time and place!
We were evacuees from New Orleans and the host, Mary Ellen was wonderful. This home and property is breath taking. I will rent this home again but next time for a relaxing vacation and not a hurrication (Hurricane/vacation)
We rented this location specifically for the pool as our granddaughters (ages 9 and 12) both are on youth swim teams.
They spent every minute they could in the pool. The home is very quaint, clean, comfortable, and was perfect for the four of us. The location is close to downtown Bay St. Louis and the gulf beaches.
We rented the Main House with our small kids. The swimming pool was impeccably clean, with a nice amount of shade from the surrounding trees. We spent many hours enjoying the pool. Having the beach nice and close was an added bonus. The beds were very comfortable and there was a pack n play that our baby used. We all slept very comfortably- which is saying something when traveling with small children. Our host Mary Ellen was attentive and had great communication. We appreciated her texting to check in on us and answering all our questions. We loved the history of the house and it’s a beautiful property all around! We would recommend this place!
Very nice and comfortable place. Well equipped kitchen and 20 minute walk to many shops and restaurants. The only downside was maintenance employees coming by unannounced, just didn’t give a total sense of privacy.

We are a small business & there always work to be done to maintain the houses on a routine basis.
Our longtime contractor & carpenters were working on the removal of the upstairs sofa for reupholstery.
Our guests comfort & well being is at the top of our list.
At times it can be a challenge to maintain a high level of privacy when we have to work on the properties.
We discovered the Mississippi Gulf Coast a few years ago. It’s the perfect way to extend a Florida beach vacation. Bay St Louis has become one of our favorite get away places.
Creole Cottage is lovely. The location is super convenient to restaurants and shopping. The decor is so interesting. We enjoyed the beautiful pool, the screened porch and the sunroom.
Tip: rent the golf cart. This area is undergoing so much restoration, it’s enjoyable riding around the streets.
The home was very charming and had lots of character. We had 2 adults and three kids ages 6-17yrs old and had plenty of space. Short walk to the beach area and the golf cart available to rent was a huge plus. We enjoyed rides into town on the golf cart to have a meal and enjoy all the great shops around Bay St. Louis. The pool was a huge plus. Mrs Mary was great and always a phone call away. We will be back!
We took a trip here for my daughter’s birthday. It was the perfect get away. There was plenty to do if we wanted to hang around in the cozy, charming cabin, it was walking distance to w beautiful beach as well as cute, boutique shops and restaurants, and driving distance for adventures in the Big Easy. The owner was so accommodating and welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed for the perfect family vacation. The pool was clean and spacious and the property was very well maintained.
This was our second time staying at this property. The house is beautiful and historic, yet still cozy. It was very clean. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The pool is very nice and private. It is a very short golf cart ride to the beach, as well as Old Town BSL. Golf carts can be rented from the owners and are located at the house for a very reasonable price. The owner (Mary Ellen) is extremely helpful and accommodating. Overall, my family and I have had two wonderful and relaxing vacations at this house and will definitely be returning in the future.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Ellen Warner
Mary Ellen and Bob are experienced vacation rental hosts. Their interest in developing property was born after Hurricane Katrina when they purchased a 126-year-old creole cottage in Bay St. Louis, MS . They completely restored this historical "Biloxi Cottage" (1 of two left on coast). The Creole Cottage was placed on the National Register of Historic Properties.
It is now the flag ship of our small portfolio of restored luxury properties. Mary Ellen and Bob each contribute to the success of the rentals. Mary Ellen manages the varied properties and gives the guests a special local experience. Bob grew up in Waveland, MS & attended St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis. Mary Ellen and Bob's knowledge and lifelong ties to the area and the people gives our guests a true local experience.
They share a special experience that reveals the "old world" charm, the natural beauty, and unique culture of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. After one visit we hope that our guests will appreciate this beautiful coastal area as much as we do. We welcome you to the Main House.
Why they chose this property
The owners return to Bay St. Louis regularly for peace and quiet time. They were pleased to have the opportunity to restore and preserve this historical 100-year-old cottage, "La Petite Cachette" (Little Nook). They are proud of their cottage and want to share this restored gem of MS coastal history.
What makes this property unique
This Creole home is one of the few Biloxi Cottages to survive after Katrina. The typical Biloxi Cottage is a locally popular vernacular house that is typified by a gable roof, undercut gallery, and four bay facade with doors in two central bays.
La Petite Cachette is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special property that seamlessly blends the history of a past lifestyle with the modern luxury of today. The barge board shelves and walls, and reclaimed wood floors combined with the modern luxury of the amenities offered and the history of the Gulf Coast.
