About this property
Odessa Oil Show Gem near Coliseum
Charming cottage with new AC, front/back gardens, and street parking. It is located halfway between the Ector County Coliseum (2mi) and the downtown Marriott Conference Center (1mi), near I-20, and three blocks from a great Mexican food restaurant. In the 1950s, this quaint cottage was a hot-sheeter boarding house for two crews of ten oil field roughnecks and a foreman. The space has a vintage vibe throughout with loads of antique furniture, original art, artistic touches, skylights, a beadboard ceiling, handmade screen doors, original wood doors, wood floors, and light fixtures. The bedroom features a double bed, a cozy reading space with a loaded bookcase, lovely afternoon light, and the option of blackout shades and curtains. The cottage also includes an updated bath/shower, a twin-sized daybed with a hide-away pop-up trundle, an antique media armoire with a smart TV, Roku, and Bose speakers. There is a small office nook in the living room with fast Wi-fi.
Just walk in. Everything included (soft sheet sets, choice pillows, comforter, blankets, cookware, dishes, glasses, silverware, utensils, food storage containers, ice-cube trays, room temp reverse-osmosis water dispenser, Calphalon pots and pans, Lékué silicon microwave cookware, electric skillet, crockpot, mixer, blender, Keurig, percolator, ironing setup, yoga setup, blow dryer, vacuum, mop, and a local guide). The starter set includes filled water jugs, paper products/toiletries, cooking oils/spices, coffee pods/grounds, and cleaning items. The kitchen sports an old ironing board fold-out table, a new 9cuf fridge, and a new 20” gas stove. It has a street-side garden/porch in front and a tiny enclosed garden in the back. Ample street parking is available. Access to W/D is available once a week, and a big coin laundry with drop-off service is nearby.
No parties/ smoking/vaping/candles. No pets—we have curious indoor/outdoor cats. The Mexican restaurant has a sports bar area, outdoor seating available, and weekend mariachi music. A small grocery/gas/water refill is three blocks away. The best burrito options are available, depending on direction and time. You will need a car to get around town and explore Big Bend and Far West Texas.

About the host
Hosted by Beckwith Thompson
We are longtime residents and community college photography teachers/artists, soon to be retired, living close by. We create commissioned fine-art photography for designers, realtors, businesses, and homeowners. Our large wall art has furnished everything from a tiny, elegant home library to small businesses, industrial schools, and multi-story commercial buildings.
Our subject matter often includes florals, landscapes, portraiture, and still-life images. So far, we have explored and curated art for various industries, such as oil, banking, music, architecture, and automobiles, often creating artwork on-site. We are actively seeking to venture into different visual sectors.
We also photograph people and products for businesses and teach photographic workshops. Our award-winning artwork is regularly shown in museums/venues/exhibits nationwide and sold to clients worldwide.
