Rick has everything you needed here! What a gem of a cabin on a small beautiful lake. The dogs were able to run and swim for days. We caught a ton of panfish, some huge bass and northerns. The cabin is secluded but close enough to town to make it perfect. We will be back again next year!
The cabin was very nice and the property was well taken care of. The town of Longville had many things going on for children and many places to eat at. We will definitely stay at this cabin again. Rick was a wonderful host and very accommodating.
Our stay was perfect! The cabin was just as described. Rick was great to work with. Cabin is close to Longville, but nicely private. Ample hiking opportunities nearby, as the cabin is within just a few miles of the North Country National Scenic Trail! Great little grocery and shops in Longville, and fabulous breakfast at the Turtle Town Cafe :) The leaves were at peak color, almost no bugs in early October. Had some great ribs at the Piggy in Walker, and took a day trip to Itasca (one hour away). Loved it all!
Loved the cabin and location. Only bad thing was the weather and rain. It would have been ideal if weather was better but we made do. Dogs loved running the property and the lake
It looks just like the photos. The large yard is beautifully maintained. The cabin contained everything we could have needed including kitchen, bathroom, and personal supplies, everything for the patio and grill. The owners thought of everything!
Cabin was clean.Love the use of paddle boat. Everything was well organized in t he cabin. Enjoyed the fishing.Nice small quiet lake. Nice big yard are dog enjoyed it.
This is our third time renting from Rick. This visit was just for my husband and it was just as good as the other two visits! Communication with Rick has been the best with before questions etc and info to check in etc. Excellent location, private and house has everything you need for great trip, perfect set up! We will rent again!!
Beautiful surroundings. Decorating style gave a fun cabin vibe. Walking paths short but filled with beautiful wild, native flowers and smelled fresh. Enjoyed all the monarch butterfles and variety of birds. Large supply of wood to make fire pit gazing enjoyable. One day of rain, but the cabin is comfortable and relaxing.
Had a wonderful stay in this cute and peaceful cabin! The owner went above and beyond in stocking the cabin! Made our stay so comfortable because everything we needed was provided! We enjoyed grilling every night while watching the view of the lake and listening to the sounds of birds. The yard was big and well mowed! And it feels like you have your own private lake in front of your yard. The canoe and pedal boat was provided so it was a big treat for us. We enjoyed the amazing lake and the privacy that this place provided. We highly recommend this place!
Our second visit from Summer to Fall of this year. Beautiful Fall tree colors!. Very clean cabin well stocked above & beyond all your needs. Fire container can be moved anywhere within the expansive yard with ample firewood. Many nearby lakes for excellent fishing.
Thank you Rick for your great communication. You are a super host! Look forward to our return!!
How many times have we been up there, I ask..... we're losing count. 'Twas another fantastic experience. Tried spring vs fall, area fishing way better. Expect us back...again.... and again...
We enjoyed the well stocked cabin, decor and amenities. It would have been helpful to know that there was no internet service ahead of time. We ended up using the local library to communicate on some issues. Available TV stations are limited. Operation of the heat pump for desired temp is tricky to get used to. Getting to the dock is a little treacherous. A steep rough slop is the access. Steps would help. Otherwise, everything worked out well.

Lovely forest lake cabin on 3 acres of total privacy.
We spent three nights at Rick's wonderful cabin looking across the lake at aspen/birch and pine trees. A highlight was using his canoe to paddle on the lake past a beaver lodge, and loons. We went kayaking on Woman Lake and Baby Lake which are both beautiful and very close to the cabin. Shopping in Longville, Hackensack, and Walker was fun, too. Rick's cabin is new, clean and fresh with a great air conditioner. We cooked our meals there, and Rick had all the supplies we needed. Our stay was right after a huge storm that took out power all across northern MN. Rick bought a generator for us to use in case the power was still out during our stay. (He gave us many options, because of the power outage, but we chose to come, and try it with the generator. He even offered for us to stay free if we had to use the generator, which we would not have done as his rates are very reasonable.) An hour before we came the power was restored, and we were able to meet Rick as he was getting the generator ready. He loves his lakeside cabin, and beautiful yard with its patches of wildflowers, and we did, too.
We hope to return someday. Denny and Lynn Owens
It was my second time staying at this wonderful cabin on Boxel lake! Again, everything was clean, well organized! I'm grateful to have found this gem of a place! Its a perfect quiet, weekend retreat!Thank you Rick and Candy
We had another wonderful stay at this cozy cabin in the woods. It is on a beautiful piece of land by the lake. It is very welcoming, has all the comforts of home, and is close to Longville and many places to explore. Our pups love the large yard too. We hope to come back again…
This is a beautiful quiet place to relax and unwind. Rick has thought of about anything a person could need on their stay. Went out on the pedal boat and caught a bunch of sunfish and bass! The town of longville has plenty of fun little things to do as well! I will highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to get away.
This was absolutely the best place I have ever stayed. This cabin was so nice, cute, clean, comfortable well kept! The host made booking and check in easy. They have thought of everything you might need. The property is beautiful! The wild flower garden was gorgeous! It was so nice and quiet with wildlife all around! We enjoyed using the canoe and paddle boat on the lake. Saw swans and deer and great for bird watching. We didnt fish but saw fish while canoeing. There was a great farmers market nearby! I will definitely be back! Oh, the shower was great and the water was soft. It was great to be able to wash your clothes. Thank you for a woderful stay at your lovely cabin!! It was a very peaceful place.Christy

We live in and work in Rochester and bought the property back in 1995 and finally built the cabin in 2005. Have really enjoyed the fishing and the quiet there.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property because of its quiet location, the size of the lot, and the proximity to town. It's only a mile and a half to the restaurant and gas station in town but you feel like you are a long way from civilization when you are sitting on the deck or out fishing. The lake is a good fishing lake for panfish, largemouth, and northern pike. The lake is about ¼ mile wide by ½ mile long, about 60 acres, it’s not unusual to be the only one fishing on it.
What makes this property unique
We have really enjoyed quiet and privacy of this property and the excellent fishing. There aren't many trophies in this lake but if you enjoy catching 2 to 5 lb northerns along with largmouth bass, crappies, and panfish you will love this lake. You can see from the pictures that the lot itself has a large open area with a couple of wildflower gardens. There is also a couple of acres of woods with mowed trails in them.
