Wonderful Zihua Villa with Breathtaking Views!

We highly recommend this Zihua Villa for a family vacation. From the moment we arrived with the views, check-in efficiency delivered groceries, and chef dinner ~ We knew we had found a wonderful and relaxing vacation spot in Mexico.

Casa Estrella Del Mar!

What a great stay! The home is better kept than any VRBO we’ve ever used. The owners were amazingly accommodative to everything we requested. The property manager was responsive and actively checked to see if we needed anything often. We will definitely stay at Casa Estrella Del Mar again!

Fabulous Zihuatenejo home!!!

Amazing stay at Casa Estrella De Mar

First time staying in Zihua - a truly amazing spot! We had a hurricane warning (Otis) but luckily it didn’t end up hitting us other than some rain at night. Casa Estrella de Mar is a beautiful spot and Laurie, Jaquie, Lilli, & Jorge we’re available as needed during our stay to help with anything! Walking distance from a picturesque beach. Taxi driver (Bear) were great but expect to take them if you’re heading into town / La Ropa beach!

1st time in Zihuatanejo

Stunning villa perched on the hillside overlooking the beautiful bay. The pictures on the listing were very accurate except that the real thing was even better. The owners were very helpful. The property manager arranged for groceries on arrival, in house massages, golf and dinner reservations. We could not have been happier with our choice.

It's everything you think

We had a great time at Casa Estrella. Word of the wise: read the red book in the media room! We missed that part from Jacqui and Lily when we checked in so we were a bit confused at first. We had a problem with the ice maker but Jacqui and Laurie and everyone were so reactive and accommodating. Such a beautiful view and property and a wonderful staff too!!

Excellent stay. As good as advertised!

My wife and two teenage kids stayed at Casa Estrella de Mar and had an extraordinary vacation. The house is immaculate, with a picturesque view, and the accommodations were perfect for our family. Jacquie met us when we checked in and had picked up a short list of groceries that we had sent in advance. Lili came every day to clean, do laundry, and otherwise keep the house in pristine condition. We had a chef-prepared dinner at the house one night that was excellent and otherwise enjoyed exploring the area, eating at wonderful restaurants, and relaxing in the pool or on the deck. Honestly, all of our needs were fully met. Taxis were easy to get and we walked to the beach one day as well. All in all it was an awesome stay and we hope to come back soon!

Memorable Getaway

The view and property are just as expected. Absolutely stunning! Both Laurie and Jacqui were so communicative throughout the whole process.We had a few bumps in our adventure, but Jacqui was very kind and helpful in making sure we were taken care of. You must book a dinner with the chef, she is incredible and it was such a treat! It was our first time in Zihua, so the heat an environment took a little getting used to, but the pool is the best way to cool off! Taxis into the Centro or La Ropa are pretty necessary unless you love walking up steep hills. If you are looking for a more remote relaxing vacation, then this is the perfect spot for you!

Love this house (Casa Eatrella)

Wonderful accommodations. Spacious. Everything worked. BEAUTIFUL view of the bay. More spectacular at sunset. The lights of the city were an amazing backdrop at night. Love the open-air layout of the whole house. If I had to make any suggestions, they would be to install a pool heater for swimming at night, and doing something about the soapy fragrance from the laundry room so that it is not so overwhelming for the guests sleeping in the adjacent bedroom. But, overall, an amazing property to stay at. We felt very secure with the security gate/guards 24 hours a day.

Most Amazing Honeymoon

My new husband and I rented this property for our Honeymoon and could not be happier with our choice. The photos of the property are gorgeous, but seeing it in person was even better. It was the most relaxing vacation ever. They even set up the Master bedroom with rose petals and hearts to celebrate our arrival on our honeymoon. Laurie, the owner, was so responsive and helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. Great recommendations to restaurants and things to do in town. Jackie, the house manager, had everything stocked for us before arriving and was available for reservations and helping us book a private chef. Highly recommend having the private chef come one night. Best food ever! Thank you Laurie and staff for making our honeymoon so special! We can't wait to plan a trip back:)

Zihua family vacation

Beautiful house above the bay with a view of everything. We had the perfect view of water taxis shuttling people from the peer to Playa Las Gatas all day. When the sun sets, the town stays light and is absolutely gorgeous. Gourmet kitchen, huge dining room table, and comfy seating around the pool and in the living room. Perfect for 3 couples, never felt like we were on top of each other. The private chef was so good, she came back two more times! Lili came every other day and did our laundry, we were spoiled for sure. Not the best for people with mobility issues, as stairs up to the master or down to the other two beds is the only access to the bedrooms. So there is some serious stair climbing to get around the house. Good for your legs! Gated safe community, under development so there is construction happening on most streets. The houses are built to be very private so it wasn’t a huge issue. Be prepared to take taxis to get anywhere, and make sure you practice your Spanish and/or download Google Translate to communicate as needed. Zihua is a very clean and safe feeling town, with a growing food scene. Espuma was a favourite dinner out, highly recommend. And Margaritas for brunch. La Ropa was a great beach, and make the trip to Playa Las Gatas at least once!

A Bit of Heaven on Earth

When you walk thru the front door and onto the living area, you experience a little bit of heaven on earth. You are able to see all of Zihuatanejo Bay. The beautiful Las Gatas beach is just below you with its white, light green and blue coral waters. La Ropa beach is on the right with its beach restaurants and endless water sports toys. Then you can look across the bay at Maderas beach, the marina, downtown Z and the pier. The view at night that lights up before you is amazing. However, the personal touch of the staff there at Casa Estrella De Mar is the best I have ever encountered throughout my worldly travels. Starting with Laurie the owner, she goes above and beyond to answer any of your questions before you book or travel to help your experience there be fulfilled. Next comes her property manager Jacqui who is exceptionally kind, attentive, resourceful, responsive and helpful. She provides excursion information while in Z and makes appointments for your own chef dinner She makes reservations for dinner. For 200 pesos, she will take your pre-arrival grocery list and stock the casa just prior to your arrival which is a huge plus after traveling all day. Housekeeping is provided by Lili and Jorge who provide fresh towels, water in your room, clean the infinity pool, wash your clothes for you, and clean the home. I am not sure the Ritz Carlton could do better.

Absolutely gorgeous property! Laurie = dream owner! Great communication! Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook while gazing at the jaw dropping view. Cerro Del Vigia is very secure and the guards at the gate were extremely friendly/helpful with taxis. I rely heavily on reviews when I book VRBO, so a couple of things that may be helpful to others: Jacqueline (mgr) will meet you up at the airport and stop at the store to pick up initial provisions.A great +. Just be aware that if you have more than 4 people in your group, this may prove a challenge as she has a small SUV. We had 5, so 4 of us crammed in the back on laps.Because the cargo area was limited & full of luggage, we had to drop several people off at the store to take a taxi to the casa as there was no room for any groceries w/the 5 of us + luggage.The walk to Playa La Ropa was a little farther than we expected (we're desert folk so the humidity affected some of us). But it is an inexpensive taxi ride if you don’t want to walk.Note: major construction on the road down the hill into town (past Playa La Ropa) adding 15+ minutes to the drive - locals say may be done by the end of the year.The maid is scheduled M,W,F (all day from 9 to 5). I think we had some communication issues because on days that we asked her to clean (not often), she only stayed for a bit, sat downstairs w/her husband chatting, and just changed the towels & made beds (as far as we could tell).She did not touch the kitchen. Living space/kitchen are truly open-air = fabulousness! (No AC in living areas/kitchen). Word of caution: there are small lights in the bottom of tree/pillar by pool that are flush with the surface - looks like a ledge to sit on.However, they get VERY hot! If these lights are on, DO NOT SIT on there!My daughter badly burned her bum (she now has the image of the light and its casing, including all the writing/markings, seared into her skin).The only TV is in the media room but we never even turned it on! We did watch Netflix on our Ipad one night but the Internet only worked in close proximity to the media room. OMG!!! The infinity edge pool is absolute perfection! We spent oodles of time relaxing in the pool with cervezas & margaritas watching the breathtaking sunsets and the lights across the bay . LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! All in all, it was a fabulous trip and we were very impressed with Casa Estrella de Mar. Thank you Laurie and Iain for a wonderful stay! We will be back!

Top Shelf!

Group of 5 friends who’ve travelled together over the years. Each stay we try and top the last and this property did not disappoint! (Personally I could have stayed…)The guest hand book is very helpful! Laurie recommended a chef make dinner in the house for our arrival, which we did. HIGHLY recommend as we were exhausted and ended up with left overs for lunch, and the cost was reasonable compared to eating out. The Neighborhood is safe and clean. The tennis court can handle a pickle if one prefers. (Take water) The house pool is refreshing. The kitchen is well appointed. Can’t ask for much more.Seems far from amenities but it’s close. Easy walk down the hill and taxi back (100 pesos ish) if ladened with groceries or cervesas. We were very comfortable. We Highly recommend the property and helpful host.

Truly the Star of the Sea!!!

Walking in for the first time to such an amazing and dramatic view just takes your breath away (but wait till the sun goes down and you gaze across the bay to the ‘Mountain of Diamonds’. One of the most beautiful things we’ve ever seen in all our travels!) The casa itself is lovely and as others have said, like having your own private resort! We are a group of 6 family and friends who love to cook so the huge open air kitchen (with that gorgeous view!) was perfect! (Though don’t miss the incredible dining out in Z!) Jacquie and Lily were lovely and very helpful and we also fell in love with the gate guard who saw us frequently as we went to town most days. But you wouldn’t need to. You could stay up here in paradise and just bask in the jungle sounds and the beauty. Maybe have Jacquie shop for the fresh fish of the day a few times…and don’t miss the Mexican mangos!! Oh my!! We also want to say that owner Laurie has gone out of her way to help make our stay extra special – so thank you Laurie, thank you to your Mexican family and thank you Zihuatanejo – we’ll be back!!

Better than expected!

We (family of 4 with 10yo and 13yo) were blown away as soon as we entered the home! The view from every space is fantastic and the house is well appointed with local art. We spent the majority of our time in the open air kitchen/dining/lounge/pool enjoying the sunshine and sunsets, but the bedrooms are great too! Jacquie was incredibly responsive, booked our airport transport and a fishing trip. Lili was incredibly sweet and even washed/folded our laundry each visit (I could have easily only packed 1/4 of what I brought)! The house manual was helpful and provided the name of a driver “Bear” who helped us get around town. The house is in a safe and gated community that requires transportation but everything is a quick and cheap ($5-7) cab ride. 10/10 would stay again in a heartbeat.
