The rental is an executive style 2 bedroom, 1 bath loft furnished with a full kitchen, hardwood floors and Martha Stewart style décor. The 1100 square-foot property is filled with unique antique furniture including a claw foot bathtub for relaxation and boasts views of surrounding pastures, woods and mountains. Within these serene rural surroundings, the loft also has all the 21st century amenities necessary for workers and vacationers alike. Radiant floor heating, WIFI and satellite television are there to allow you to stay comfortable and connected. The rental has its own separate entrance and a private deck to enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest weather. Your stay includes fresh chicken eggs from our lovely hens.

My stay at the barn was incredible! This space was beautiful, comfortable, peaceful and serene. Down to the details and the fresh fruit grown on the property, the horses were so friendly and lovable, the peaceful farm life was just what I needed. Everything about this place was magic and I will be back for sure!

My parents and I had a great stay at the loft. The most clean and well stocked Vrbo I have ever stayed at. The flowers and greenery mixed w the farm animals was just perfect! Highly highly recommend!

This was the perfect place and location to stay while visiting friends and family in Bellingham. The accommodations were nice and provided everything we needed. We loved the dogs, chickens, geese, cats and horses.

Charming and beautiful

The Red Barn Loft is perfect for a couple, two friends, or a small family. It’s located on a truly idyllic and beautiful farm east of Bellingham. The property is impeccably maintained, very clean, and has all the amenities. I had a really relaxing and pleasant stay and will certainly return!

A beautiful place to stay

All of the amazing reviews are true! We spent a week over Thanksgiving at the loft and had a great time. We had everything we needed and then some - fresh eggs every morning, and Jill even brought us over a delicious homemade pie on Thanksgiving day. Above and beyond. Having all of the animals around was a huge bonus. We would definitely stay again!

Winter getaway

We had a wonderful time staying here over Christmas. The place is exactly as advertised. It is really comfortable with a kitchen that was set up for food prep. The heated floors were really nice as roughly 14" of snow fell during our stay. Beds were comfy and the place had everything we needed. Communication with the owners was great. If the opportunity arises, we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Perfect getaway

What a gem. We were looking for something close to Mt. Baker for skiing and even though there were plenty of options closer to the mountain, nothing came close to the amenities of the Red Barn Loft. Everything you've read in the other reviews is accurate. This is one of the best VRBO experiences around. The kitchen was well-stocked for any of your cooking or baking needs (and what a bonus of farm-fresh eggs!) We will definitely return when we're in the area again.

Delightful time on the farm!

This was my second time staying at this property, and it was just as delightful as the first. The loft was the perfect size for our family of three, and very well stocked and maintained. Everything was comfortable, clean, and just right. We were even able to bake a cake primarily with ingredients available there (featuring fresh eggs from Jill's hens)! The hosts, Jill and her husband, were so welcoming and kind, evening digging their children's old tricycle out of the barn for our son to ride on and letting him help with farm chores (which he loved!). The surrounding area is beautiful, with plenty to do and see. We greatly look forward to our next visit!

A truly lovely place to stay.

We couldn’t have found a better place to stay. Nestled in a beautiful, bucolic setting, the loft has so much to offer both inside and out. Inside it is a charming and supremely comfortable space. The bathroom is luxurious with its double sinks, free-standing bathtub and rain-head shower. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the host, Jill keeps the pantry stocked with anything you could possibly want or need. Outside the views are wonderful, and the horses, chickens, cats, geese and the occasional Corgi are a treat to see and interact with. It’s a great location that’s convenient to Bellingham as well as mountain trails. Jill is an amazing, friendly, charming and informative host. We enjoyed chatting with her. We’d definitely stay here again!

Heavenly summer at Red Barn Loft

I could write a book about all the beauty and comfort of this wonderful offering in the country which is not far from city or mountain activities. The loft is well equipped for entertaining, resting, gourmet cooking, washing your clothes, and perfect comfort of the furnishing. The owners have an eye for good craftsmanship, quality of materials, and decorating design. The loft was comfortable for the spring and summer season that I enjoyed there. The animals! I loved interacting with the chickens, the geese, the horses, cats, and dogs. It was beautiful with a private outdoor patio and entrance along with gorgeous flower gardens that were ever blooming with something. At night when the sky was clear, you could see out to new galaxies, I think. More stars and shooting stars than I have ever seen in the deep dark sky, away from city lights. The hosts were more than helpful and accommodating. I give this VBRO a score of 20 out of 10! 10 stars is not good enough!

The Lift is such a gem! The space was perfect for me. Jill and Fred were excellent hosts! I had a wonderful stay over Labor Day weekend. The property is peaceful and quiet with everything you could possibly need. They have animals which was such a joy! I got to feed apples to the horses, chat with the ladies - aka the chickens, and admire one of the kitties from afar. I can’t wait to come back for another stay!

Everything we were hoping for and more!

I’ll just start off by saying this was the best vacation rental I’ve ever stayed at. From the housing, to the location, to the amenities, to the host and their service, it was nothing short of excellent.My wife, our toddler (14mos), and I came up to Bellingham for a business trip. We were so fortunate to have found this property available over the Fourth of July weekend. Jill was an incredible host, greeting us shortly after we arrived. She is very knowledgeable of the area and was so kind to show us around their little farm. Ever since we left, my wife and I continuously talk about going back for another stay.If you are taking a trip up to Whatcom County and this is available… book it! You will not regret it.
Our daughter was a big fan of the chickens coming out to say hello whenever we passed by.
We spent a lot of time petting Jill and her husband’s horses. Our daughter LOVED the “neigh-neighs”.

Hello our names are Fred and Jill and we are excited to have you at the Red Barn Loft. We are two professionals who moved to the Bellingham Area in 1992. We hail from Arizona and Connecticut respectively and made the trek to the Pacific Northwest after college in search of a home. We built our house with two friends and raised two boys on the property.

Why they chose this property

Almost a quarter century ago we were attracted to rural beauty of the Squalicum Valley as a place to build our home and our family, and we haven't left since!
