About the host
Hosted by Susan and Christopher
We are two artists, one born in Chicago, the other in London, never destined to meet - but hélas, thanks to the miracle of cartoon animation, our paths did cross. Christopher grew up in rural France unlike Susan, a big-city girl. We speak an excellent "franglais". We are adventurous people by nature and are looking forward to meeting and echanging with new people like yourselves.
Why they chose this property
A bit of history
Joinville was known as “Le Petit Hollywood” for it’s cinema industry housing Paramount, Pathé, and GTC, producing almost 50% of the French films - notably by famous directors like Marcel Carmé, Jean Renoir, Jacques Tati and many more.
In the 1900’s Joinville was the destination for many Parisiens on a Sunday afternoon to row on the river, eat and drink in one of its famous “guinguettes” or dancehalls, colorful places of ill-repute, the most famous being Chez Gégène which still exists today as well as the rowing club on Ile Fanac.
The loft served as Susan's studio for more than 20 years. Originally owned by a distributor of beer and spirits that were delivered by horse-drawn carts. The building is termed “remarquable” on the French architectural register.

What makes this property unique
Newly renovated artist’s loft in a turn of the century industrial space.
A sunny, 2nd floor loft with 2 bedrooms, 2 fully-equipped bathrooms with walk-in shower and toilet. Perfect for 4 adults or a couple with children (sorry not setup for infants).
Our loft is situated in the heart of Joinville-le-Pont, a town known for its colorful history of a by-gone era, full of stories of gangsters, Jacques Mesrine being one, " les guinguettes" or dancehalls and brothels.
2 min from shopping and restaurants. Very quiet. Secure parking on the premises. 7 min walk to train station RER A, 15 min train ride to center of Paris.
The same trainline that takes you to Disneyland Paris but in the opposite direction. We are close to the Bois de Vincennes with it's chateau and dungeon. We are 200m from the banks of the Marne river where you can go for a long scenic walk, jog or just sit and watch the boats while sipping a refreshing drink at the Mascotte.
