About this property
St. Helena, walk to town, on vineyard, pool, one acre/private, Permit STR25-001
Large private luxury home one block north of charming downtown St. Helena. A peaceful creek side residence, yet close-in enough for a short stroll into town for wine tasting, shopping or dining - the best of both worlds. Surrounded by the historic Beringer vineyards and York Creek, the original farmhouse porch dating back to 1876 still remains, now overlooking not only the vineyards but now the bocce court.
We are proud members of the local community and our home is fully licensed as a short term rental (City of St. Helena Short Term Rental Permit No. PL21-001).
Midway between Napa to the south and Healdsburg to the north, off Hwy. 29 and close to Silverado Trail, the home sits in an ideal location from which to explore all Napa Valley has to offer.
The fully equipped main house is a single story in keeping with the original farmhouse style with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (ensuite), 2 living areas, a formal dinning area, a chef’s kitchen stocked with commensurate appliances, hardwood floors and beautiful furnishings. Gas burning fireplaces in both living rooms and one master bedroom to enjoy on cool Napa nights. A large outdoor gas burning fireplace seating area adjacent to
the vineyards is perfect for storytelling and stargazing. Two alfresco dining areas with a large gas grill and buffet service area overlook the pool and vineyards. The traditional farmhouse porch offers great vineyard views for bocce court players and spectators alike. Please note that the outside area of the property has extensive outdoor lighting and security cameras that monitor the front entry, all porch/patio and side entries, the pool and outdoor cooking area.
The home comes equipped with everything to make your retreat complete: full internet and wireless service throughout the house, a fully equipped kitchen with wine storage refrigerator and a television in each bedroom and living area. The former artist studio back house by the pool offers a downstairs bar area and upstairs game room with pool table -both equipped with large screen televisions. Robes, slippers, amenities provided for each bathroom. All beds furnished with hypoallergenic microfiber and linen bedding.
Please note the home is located next to a working vineyard.
We regularly vacation here with our family and friends, so in addition to local Napa area management, we are actively engaged in making sure “mi casa es su casa.”
Concierge and housekeeping services available upon request.

About the host
Hosted by Jim Stone

Patti and Jim Stone split their time between Austin, Texas and St. Helena, California. We have been visiting the Napa Valley area since the mid 1970's and would love to share our favorite restaurants, wineries and suggested activities with you.
Why they chose this property
It was love at first sight with this beautiful and historic home right in the heart of the Napa Valley wine country.
It’s close to everything we enjoy exploring here. And yet it’s a very private and quiet property surrounded by vineyards and a creek that flows year round. It’s just a short jaunt into the bustling and charming St. Helena, the beautiful Silverado Trail, and all the excellent food, wine and beauty the valley has to offer. It’s close to both serious hike/bike trails and old fashioned bike rentals, major bocce tournaments and the farmer’s market at the local elementary school, and a library with a five foot rocking horse in the children’s wing along with frequent book signings. Backing up to two historic Beringer vineyards, it’s fun to look up and realize the rows are full of workers quietly tending the vines. We have learned a lot about good farm management from our kitchen table. There are so many wineries old and new to learn about and enjoy. And so many sunny afternoons to then enjoy lazing by the pool. Coming from Texas, we especially love wrapping up in blankets by the outdoor fireplace and looking up at the billions of stars in the night sky.
And yes, that is our own teeny tiny vineyard across the road from the house. Wanting to grow your own grapes is sort of contagious out here. We even had our first harvest last year. Which we have no idea what to do with, but are learning:)
We love sharing our home with friends and family. We hope you will enjoy it too!

What makes this property unique
From the moment you walk in to the spacious yet homey entry, you feel the good energy of being in a house that has grown and been adapted for over a hundred years. Much of it is brand new. All of it is updated, but it has a history that hasn’t been forgotten or discarded. Or imposed. It feels like a real farmhouse because it is. We have seen the hand hewn redwood studs under the new shiplap for ourselves. It feels like a home base. A place where you can really relax.
We love being able to be anywhere we want in the valley in no time at all. Some of the best wine and food in the world is ready to be savored here in some of the most beautiful country in the world. What is not to like??? Just pinch us!
Then there are the age old vines just over the fence - so close you feel you could almost touch them, the creek that rushes with water year round, the original long side porch and huge walnut tree over the bocce court. We love lazing in the sun after a big night out, taking a dip in the pool, gathering around the table laughing and eating under the stars, playing billiard games punctuated with cheers for our favorite sports teams, staying up all night determined to finish a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle, walking to town or going for a long walk/run/bike ride followed by a visit to Model bakery for a rewarding treat. Finally reading that book we’ve been carrying in our luggage. Or, who knows, maybe we could actually sleep in for a change. Or work on that book we’ve been meaning to write. Or just hang out with friends we hardly ever get to see much less pay attention to. And we especially love that great outdoor fireplace at night for savoring all the above under the stars....just to name a few things!
The northern California wine country is huge but this property is close to everything. And still a retreat.
