About this property

Eastgate cottages on Mars Hill Mountain

This cottage in northern Maine along the Canadian border is unique in many different ways.

It is nestled at the base of Mars Hill Mountain on an active Homestead featuring livestock, gardens, and panoramic views of the northern side of the mountain and Canada.

Located approx. 5 miles from:
Big rock ski mountain, Mars Hill country club, the local grocery store, a gas station, restaurants, etc. Plus direct access to the IAT (International Appalachian Trail), and near access to the Big 13 ATV trail system.

The cabin is located on the same property as our home (about 200 feet away from our house). We have kids, a dog, and farm animals. We have designed our property layout to be the most convenient and restful for your stay. However, you may still hear kids playing outside as well as the normal sounds that occur on an active hobby farm! Don’t worry, no roosters!

This cabin also doubles as a prayer/spiritual retreat for pastors and ministry leaders who are looking for a place to come rest from the busyness of ministry or to attend one of our local conferences or church events.

As a thank you to those who serve us in such a way, proceeds from our bookings go to covering the stay of those who work in Christian ministry.

Small space - great for 1 at most 2. Bathroom sink is basically unusable due to its miniature size. Keep in mind if you travel to Mars Hill Sunday thru Tuesday there are no restaurants for dinner. Be prepared to bring your own food and cook. This should be mentioned in the property overview. Good location for snowmobiling, skiing and golf in warm weather. Seems to serve mainly as a spiritual retreat for clergy which is an awesome host sponsored mission. We were paying customers on our summer vacation so expectations may have been different.

Everything was great for me as my wife could not accompany me on this trip , if she had been able to, the location of the bed would've been a slight inconvenience... the property location is certainly worth any trouble in my opinion.

Why they chose this property

Despite being surrounded by vast potato fields throughout Aroostook county, our home and cabin are situated on a ridge surrounded by hills and dense woods.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is uniquely situated on our family homestead so guests get the unique experience of seeing and interacting with our farm animals as well as enjoying some seasonal goodies we produce on our farm.

We are conveniently located in close proximity to a ski mountain, country club, active town, ATV trails and the International Appalachian Trail as well as being surrounded by the beautiful Maine wilderness with a view of Canada.
